I'd say food is more the medium to look at the soul of wherever he is. But yes, great, great show.

Agree, cool guy and he tells it like he sees it, no dodging stuff or worrying about hurting feelings

He has good taste in music as well. His book was great.

Agree with Milo, nice to see the soul of the places he goes. He gets down into it.

i like the show but i think his attitude towards the american south is hypocritical and his daisy dukes are creepy.

In the past two weeks, I've seen threads on here about Bourdain, Man V. Food, and Ghost Adventures. Glad to see the love for Travel Channel on Volnation.
When will we see one on Bizarre Foods, Bert the Conqueror, Off Limits, or When Vacations Attack?

Not crazy about any of these, but The Wild Within was pretty solid during its first season.

I had a beer with him sitting at the bar in the Crown Plaza in Knoxville. He was in town to do a show at the Tennessee Theatre and also had a friend who cooked or knew a cook at North Shore Brasserie. I had just returned from New York and we talked about the restaurants I had just eaten and some of the trends in the restaurant business. He was a really cool guy and very down to earth. He might be hard on the edges, but he seemed the same as you get in the show... very interested in people and their take on food. Very cool.

One of my favorite shows. Bizarre Foods is also pretty cool as well although I don't care much for Andrew Zimmern at all.

The older episodes were better though....

The Chase thing is stupid, but it doesn't take away from the show. Just an ad...

Panthro, I don't know anybody who is an Andrew Zimmern fan. I will watch very occasionally because the shows concept is interesting, but he is a terrible tv personality IMO.

Some of us do have the Andrew Zimmern drinking game though. Do a shot whenever he uses one of the six or seven adjectives he seems to use for everything.

Ps saying you work for the Travel Channel has to be in the upper pantheon of pickup lines.

Not kidding, I loved The Wild Within. It's a joke around the office when people talk about that show that they shouldn't bring it up around me because I like to go off on the network for pulling it. I thought it was outstanding, but it got yanked after about four episodes. I also really liked a new show we tried this winter called "Triple Rush", but apparently nobody else liked it. It was about bike messengers in NYC.

Like this show a lot. It's probably sad, but I love Man v. Food as well, too much fun to watch. Bizarre Foods is forgettable, though.

Does travel channel have a "Fight Quest" (Discovery Channel, I think) type show? Doubt it but worth a shot asking

Could chill with him, plus, he loves Vietnamese food, which is my favorite Asian cuisine. Tried to find the soup lady he was talking about the last time I was in Saigon.... no luck :(

I hate that they yanked it. The episode in Hawaii when he slaughtered the hog was awesome. That was legit reality tv.

I can't remember the hosts name, but I bet he lands another show somewhere.

The Cuba episode was excellent. Just a country etched in a past time period, the classic cars and love for baseball. You wouldn't need a time machine to experience the 50's and 60's.
