I dont side with him. He is going to get sued for alot of money. He has no proof the guy was intoxicated, he totally slandered the guy, He should have never went into the stands... Plain and simple. YOU DONT do that. I dont know how many times you have to be told that. Some people just dont get it through there thick skulls. i mean i tend to belive the guy said something about davis, his wife didnt like it much, he kept going, she tried to take it into her hands (trust me i have seen it before ex. portis' mom) and then when he tried to stop here next thing the guy knew davis was in the stands after him.... he should have got a way heavier suspension than this...

Also, the word is that his wife has a history of being an "in your face" type.

I think I agree with 2345. These guys just CAN'T go into the stands. I understand the impulse to protect your wife, but the fact is that going into the stands can lead to something much, much worse; especially on the road.

The more I think about it I agree with you guys. I mean I'd go after the guy to if he was screwing with my wife but entering the stands is a no no....this comming from a Pacer fan..lol

after what happened last year, he should get more games. this is uncalled for. these arenas have security guards and the players need to stay put.

davis obviously isnt worred about the game if he is checking out his wife all the time.

kick him out of the league.

something needs to be done.... 5 games is stupid, if i was Ron Artest I would be pretty poed right now that he got 5 games and ron artest got hit with beer in the face and got like half a season...

It was actually the coach (Larry Brown) that alerted Davis to the problem and the situation. So, in reality, Davis was focused on the game until someone pointed out what was going on.

5 games seems like a decent amount. Anything less would have been a joke. He broke the rules plain and simple. His wife was in no immediate danger. In fact, it appears now she was in the other guy's face and threatening him. The fan has since filed a lawsuit, although that pretty much means nothing.

In reality, Davis broke the rules and deserves to be punished. He can go up in the stands "to protect" his family any time he wants, but he's getting at least a 5 game suspension any time it happens.

Now, can anyone name the last time an NBA player's wife suffered physical damage at a game? You can't? Maybe because it doesn't happen and it wasn't going to happen here. That crazy b* is as much at fault, or possibly more if we had all the info, than the fan.

I can see why Davis did it, if he thought his family was in danger or something like that.

I liked how on the only video they have of it, the wife is the one up in the guy's face and the guy is just sitting there trying to get her to shutup and sit down... I actually hope the guy makes some money off of this if it was just the woman being paranoid and crazy. Davis couldn't tell what was going on from the court, so understandable as to why he went up to check it out. It's not like he went in the stands to be a thug like Artest or Stephen Jackson did last year.

That was his saving grace for sure. He actually played it cool once he got there instead of just flying into the stands swinging.

What about those goofballs that were right in front of the confrontation who were acting like complete goobers because they saw themselves on the jumbotron?!

They should be banned from attending live games forever or at least forced to sit in the nose bleed section. The only thing that would've made it better is if they were on a cell-phone at the time.

'Coure, that was a spontaneous thing, it's not like they were sitting behind the plate or behind a hitter at a baseball game...

Just saw some pretty in depth video. I still think Davis was wrong to go into the stands, but it was pretty funny watching that fan live every loudmouthed idiot's nightmare . . . actually being held accountable by the 7 foot monster he just insulted.

Eh... I agree with the punishment. It might have been hard to tell exactly what was going on from the court. I don't blame him.

I don't have a problem with him going into the stands if he thinks his wife was in danger. He was cool about how he did it, almost as if he wanted the facts before he tore into the guy. He would know his wife has a big mouth and knew he better get there to keep her from getting her butt kicked.
