Where was this thing when I was growing up?

Expensive reinvention but still might be worth it. Especially if you're the one busting the wood.

That's pretty cool. We cut wood all winter to burn in our wood stove, this would make it easier, but $200+?

Also, never used the tire like that, might give that a try.

How much is your time and effort worth? Over the course of the winter, that thing would save you hours of chopping wood in the cold. It would also save you thousands of expended calories. The cost difference would be broken even in a very short amount of time.

Logical post is logical. I've probably spent as much in cheap axes and mauls that I've broken over the years. Might have to rethink.

I mostly use a sledge and wedges; more control that way. I would like to try this crazy splitter, though. One of y'all should get one and let us all try it.

The comments below the article are pretty darn funny.

OK but how well does it work on zombies?

I think that rubber tire is a much better invention.

The tire is only good if you have uniformed sizes. I've yet to see a tree that was the same diameter from root to leaf.

I rarely chop roots and leaves with axes.

You do sometimes? Why?

Oh, you should try it sometime--you don't know what you're missing. I went to town on a pile of leaves with an axe one time and in less than 30 minutes I ended up with a leaf bust of Vladimir Putin! My friends were all amazed.....

This way seems much cheaper.

If it handles the twisted hard woods like hickory, locus, and say a boxelder and I had gotten to give it a try out I wouldn't hesitate. I would get some salt air on it and get it over here. I'm a good size man I have seen these woods freshly cut and twisted and used 20 lb. sledges and mauls with 2 or 3 wedges at a time on 4,6, 7 and 9 ft thick tree stumps. And I hated every freakin min. of it. I bet I personally have split 500 ricks of hard woods.

I just can't quit crying.....wish I never seen this.

I have that same Fiskars axe. It's awesome. $45 on Amazon. The original axe the OP posted is 200 euros. Yikes!

That makes all the difference in the world. Saves you a whole lot of time hitting, setting up, hitting again, setting up, etc.

The axe is certainly a nifty gadget, but how else would have I gotten huge shoulders growing up without swinging a splitter around? :)

Ah, he stays in shape.

I'm just trying to figger out WHY he's hanging out with Jase Robertson. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

Hanging out, talking bout jesus, and jase is his new conditioning coach. Never seen the episode where he tried to help Willie shape up by making him cut wood
