I'm just looking for some general opinions on the matter. Kentucky, Florida, and Vandy are widely regarded as Locks to get into the big dance.
USC jr, UGA, lsu, auburn, and arky are a miracle away from a bid.
That leaves Bama, UT, Miss. St. and Ole Miss.
My personal opinion is if the season ended today, the likelihood of each team reaching the tourney in order looks like this:
1. Bama
2. Miss st
3. UT
4. Ole Miss
I honestly think UT is a small step behind Miss St. that being said there are other things that may be considered (late season streaks, new additions, etc) to give UT a boost. But based simply on resume we need to do more.

If UT beats ole miss and then miss st, they should be in. That being said to play miss st they would have to beat a bad UGA and then upset Vandy.
Would that be enough for both of us to get in? If bama is already in or is a small win away, which is the general consensus, that would make it hard to choose us over miss st and not take them too.

My basic question is, if all this happens can the SEC get 6 teams in? I know if we win 2 it would be ridiculous to think we would be in the Tourney, and a win over Miss St would confirm our selection over them, but would miss st be left out?

It seems to me the selection committee would have to let 6 in...

Its extremely misguided to take conference numbers into any kind of consideration. The committee doesn't look at it that way, they evaluate on a team by team basis, not a conference by conference basis

Tennessee and Mississippi State both need to get to the title game to feel decent about their at-large chances. That obviously can't happen since they're on the same side of the bracket. I think 5 is the best that can happen and MSU or UT is going to have to get it done.

Best of luck to ya :crossfingers:

Not true. Miss state can win 1 game and they're in.

It's not like they've never taken 6 from the SEC. It's happened previously, and that was before the field expanded to 68, and the Pac-12 stopped accepting multiple at-large invitations.

As of right now, 4. I think State can get in with a win over Georgia. UT I think needs to get to the finals. I think Ole Miss is out unless they win the tourney.

There is a chance. But if I was betting on it, I think the number is five. I agree with the three locks that you predict. They can lose their first game at the tourney and still get in.

So basically we have five teams fighting for two spots. I think the tournament will help us to figure that one out. I feel confident that we have to win two games to get in.

Yes, I kinda think that even if Bama loses their first game, they are still in. My hunch is that it is really between us and MSU for one last spot. They need to lose the first one and we need to win two games to get past them. That RPI is just killing us.

No chance on 6. Think ky, vandy, and Florida in. We need two wins. Miss state needs two also. Bama also needs two but have to play Florida second round. Doable, but don't think they can out score them. Bama out!
Miss state gets Vandy second round. Tough call, but believe Vandy beats them.
So, we beat Vandy, we are in.... Lose and it's anybody's guess on who the 4th teamscrim sec is.....
Four teams will get in. Hope 5. No way for 6. JMHO

Edit- Bama RPI higher than I thought at 32.

Bama does not need 2 wins, they are in as around a 8 seed. They could lose the first gane and still be in.

Miss st probably only needs one win, but two would guarantee it.

Same for Tennessee.

call me crazy but i feel like if our vols win the first tourney game, they're good to go dancing.

I hope your right, but, I really don't think so. If we win one and lose one our rpi stays about the same and a number of bubble teams have a better rpi. If we win two then I feel confident we are in.

Locks
Uk
Florida
Vanderbilt
Alabama

Miss st needs 1 maybe 2
Tennessee needs 1 maybe 2
Ole Miss could get in winning 3

Any other team could get in winning it all ala Georgia

Right now it's 5, but it's very close to 6.

Unfortunately, I hear they don't look at recent trends.

Miss State had the wheels fall of their bus and they're trying to regroup.

UT on the other hand has figured out how to win.

We'll have to wait to see who shows up for the Tourney.

We lost to some loser teams. We have to show them that we're better than that now.

The committee has to say that they look at the whole body of work, but, over the years they have went with teams that have come alive at the end of the season as long as their rpi has been decent. Its like the cutoff for rpi is suppose to be 75, but, I can't recall anyone getting an at large invite with an rpi of 70 or higher.
