I'm just looking for some general opinions on the matter. Kentucky, Florida, and Vandy are widely regarded as Locks to get into the big dance.
USC jr, UGA, lsu, auburn, and arky are a miracle away from a bid.
That leaves Bama, UT, Miss. St. and Ole Miss.
My personal opinion is if the season ended today, the likelihood of each team reaching the tourney in order looks like this:
1. Bama
2. Miss st
3. UT
4. Ole Miss
I honestly think UT is a small step behind Miss St. that being said there are other things that may be considered (late season streaks, new additions, etc) to give UT a boost. But based simply on resume we need to do more.
If UT beats ole miss and then miss st, they should be in. That being said to play miss st they would have to beat a bad UGA and then upset Vandy.
Would that be enough for both of us to get in? If bama is already in or is a small win away, which is the general consensus, that would make it hard to choose us over miss st and not take them too.
My basic question is, if all this happens can the SEC get 6 teams in? I know if we win 2 it would be ridiculous to think we would be in the Tourney, and a win over Miss St would confirm our selection over them, but would miss st be left out?
It seems to me the selection committee would have to let 6 in...
