With HC positions open at several schools, Auburn, Kentucky, Arkansas, Southern Miss, Illinois, Purdue, Colorodo, Cal, Idaho, Western Michigan, NC State, Boston College, should we be worried that if a new HC isn't announced soon we lose Chaney to one of these jobs? I personally would like to see the next HC keep him around. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Chaney get a HC gig at Purdue or NC State.

I don't think they will hire Chaney away before the new coach is announced. I really believe we will have our guy by the time the SECCG kicks off.

Hasn't Chaney gone on record stating that he has no desire or aspirations for a HC position?

I have no idea. I hope a new HC is announced soon, however, I would not be surprised if Chaney did get an offer to be a HC somewhere.

I agree. Whether he wants to go in that direction or not, I wouldn't be shocked to see some program come a knockin'.

I hope does whatever makes him happy. He stuck it out throw some rough times and has earned that right.

Chaney isn't HC material unless it's a really small school. Realistically there's not much he can do right now and the odds he will be retained are very low. What's the worst that could happen if we lose him now? I guess without anyone to answer to the players may go out drinking and get arrested. Oh wait

If our new head coach doesn't already haVe his own OC, then we probably hired the wrong level of HC.

We need to go big this time! Those type of Head Coach bring in their own OC and DC

Actually . . . didn't he throw his own name in the hat for the HC job at Marshall (or something like that) a couple of years ago?

During the postgame from KY, he basically said he had no expectations of staying on because the new guy would pick his own OC. He then also said he loved Knoxville and wouldn't mind staying if the new guy wanted him. He also said that he was going to do whatever Dave Hart asked him to do. He has an unbelievable attitude considering what he's gone through. I really hope he lands a good position either here or somewhere else.

I really like chaney but he's not getting a head job.

Im not so sure about that. The most explosive and productive in the SEC would look good to a Big12 Colorado or even an NC State. I hope we keep Chaney as well. If it aint broke, dont fix it. And of course it would help next years new guys already used to our successful system.

Reference the "Jim Chaney Show" that was televised yesterday. I don't know the man, so this is MHO only.

He does not talk like a guy who wants a HC job. He is happy being an OC and wants no part of the circus that goes with the promotion. Once again IMHO he is pretty good at what he does, and it's a nice life when you get to do what you love, and he seems to be content with that.

I wish him the best. He has served Tennessee well. GBO !
