There is a perimeter that pretty much surrounds Nashville of a crime haven . Unfortunately that spills over into downtown as well as per the two grads from BGA were stabbed to death last night and a third attacked. If you are visiting just be aware of the criminals ,including murderer's, that roam downtown. They are out there and don't think twice about ending some ones life. Crack heads and crack head tricks probably dominate the areas. Travel with a group don't stay out too late don't park in a stupid place don't get too wasted or someone you run across downtown will take advantage of you quite possibly. Uber would be a good option actually.

We've been there many times .Concerts , ballgames or just to party. Sure there's criminal behavior, it's a big city. But nothing like you'll see in most major cities.

There are some bad areas close to downtown, which it does not take much street smarts to identify and avoid. I don't know what happened with the two guys who got stabbed the other night but it sounded more like a bar fight that escalated into something deadly moreso than random murder. The things about Nashville that every crook and hood rat knows, and visitors should know too, are that our police has been pretty much politically neutered from engaging in any sort of suspect vehicle chase unless there is hard evidence that there is a hostage who is in imminent danger of being murdered in the vehicle and our criminal justice system does not levy any serious punishment on juveniles even if they kill someone. In brief, crooks have a very good chance of getting away if they run and kid crooks will not be punished even if they're caught. The criminals do slip into downtown, particularly late at night, and look for individuals and couples who've separated themselves from the herd. Usually, it's just armed robbery but people occasionally do lose their lives downtown. Sadly, most of this type thing is black on white crime, which makes it particularly difficult for big city politicians to deal with and easy for suburban politicians to criticize.

Rather odd the Titans draw 60,000 plus and Ive not heard of anyone getting murdered before or after a game - why would a bowl game at the same stadium be any different ?

I’ve never been stabbed at the Liberty Bowl. Dumb thread is dumb.
Buddy of mine got in a brawl in the stands back in ‘87. It was the year GA played Arky and kicked a FG as time expired to win the game. He was sitting in the end zone right between the goal posts and right as GA was about to snap the ball all hell broke loose.

As long as you’re in the tourist area of Nashville you have no problems. Best advice I can give for out of town folks is to stay inside the interstate loop around the city and the closer to downtown the better.... when parking/walking and etc.

Lived in Nashville, DC, New Orleans, and Detroit....Nashville isn’t that bad. The kids that got stabbed were attacked by a felon with a history of assault and prior stabbing. It was after they told the perp to lay off a girl he was groping. He waits on them and the jumped them with his friends outside the bar. That can happen in any city and I can tell you people get stabbed out of bars on Knoxville. The reason this one made so much noise is because one of the victims who died was the brother of CJ Beathard the back up QB for the 49rs. Hell, one of the worst crimes I’ve ever known was here in Knoxville.
