Any ideas about the John Wheeler murder?

CIA taking out a whistleblower is what this is.. ive been reading theorys that he was going to expose some gas weapons program and thats what is responsible for the mass death of those birds in Arkansas.

Yes I have no idea but it is indeed bizarre. Will be interesting to see how this goes.

Full autopsy with test results may be interesting when complete. Latest story I could find indicated some results still out.

More seriously though, this story is fascinating for a lot of reasons. I for one am most interested in his behavior just before his alleged death. I wonder what sort of drugs they're going to find/have found in the autopsy and what sort of leads they can generate from it.

In the final hours of his life, John P. Wheeler visited the 10th-floor offices of the Connolly Bove Lodge and Hutch law firm in the Nemours Building looking to speak with the managing partner, an attorney at the firm said Monday.

The former Pentagon official was in downtown Wilmington the afternoon of Dec. 30, looking to borrow train fare to travel north, the attorney said.

When a receptionist went to find someone to speak with Wheeler, he was gone.

Wheeler was seen on surveillance video wandering through the Nemours building around 8:30 p.m., still apparently disoriented, and refusing help from passers-by who approached him.

The lawyer at the firm was unsure if Wheeler had any relationship with lawyers there. Arthur "Chip" Connolly, managing partner at the firm, declined to comment Monday about Wheeler's visit.

Why would a man of this income level be seeking train fare?

Why is Holder sending the FBI to investigate the Gifford shooting which is fairly cut and dried, the shooter was a deranged young man regardless of any political leanings, but is leaving this high profile death to local authorities with limited resources?

The death has been ruled a homicide but the cause of death still remains a mystery.

Cause of death will be available when the autopsy is completed. From there, I'm sure it will be handled properly. Can't really go forward without knowing what to look for. FBI is investigating the AZ shooting because of the death of a federal judge.

That link that was posted stated that officials might have been presumptive to call it a homicide, even though he was found in a dumpster?

So, he decided to shoot up in a dumpster, or ... ? What other possible reason would there be for him to be in a dumpster, if he was not placed there after his death?

Very odd.

The cause of death has been revealed to be 'blunt force trauma to the head.'

Still that leaves a plethora of questions.

Why did he take a cab when he first arrived when his car was parked accross the street in a parking garage?

Why did he get out of the cab in nowheresville?

What happened to the brief case he was carrying?

How did he get into a dumpster about 12.5 miles away from where he was last seen acting in a disoriented manner?

So many questions, so few answers.

Family of slain ex-Pentagon official wants info | ajc.com

Colm Connolly, an attorney for John Wheeler III's family, said he has asked forensic reports, search warrants and a copy of a video surveillance tape showing Wheeler in downtown Wilmington the night before his body was found. Connolly also noted that Wheeler's family learned only through the media last week that a medical examiner had officially determined that Wheeler died of blunt trauma injuries after being assaulted.

The family was told early in the investigation that Wheeler had died of a heart attack caused by an assault.
