The picture below was posted on the homepage of Rivals.com today and I honestly had to do a double-take! I initially thought it was a Tennessee coach or trainer at first glance! Of course we all can tell the difference after taking a second, but it seems way too similar! I mean Texas has their longhorns logo, bought the rights to our old UT logo (Classic UT logo - U & T sit on top of each other), and now are marketing their version of our power T! Not to mention, both teams sport the color orange, making it even harder to tell apart from the untrained eye. Moreover, Texas continuously is referred to as "UT" and Tennessee is displayed as "TENN" on every major sports network even though our University was established first! Call it bitterness on my part... call it jealousy they are ranked 2nd... Call it what you want... But its frustrating!!! Any thoughts? :swoon3:

It's a block T. No biggie. Still a little miffed they where whining so much about the interlocking U and T though.

The University being founded I think 100 years before they were even a state, is enough to end arguments.

they've done that for a few years now...at least since like 04

I'm more upset that we gave them the rights to the interlocking U T logo back whenever it was that happened

search the font for "athletic block" letters, you will see the actual T that THEY use

I know they use a Block T ...that's not my point! Their brand is built around their Longhorn logo and has been for years, but they have recently been marketing the Block T more and more often! I think its more of an ego issue that they want to dub themselves "THE UT!" Maybe they want the public to forget the other one... With them whining about our use of the interlocking UT logo then adopting a logo very similar to our power T, it just seems a little suspicious...

Moreover, its just plain frustrating we can't just have something for ourselves! They're logo greedy! lol

My brother in law has a great line about this:

"Their T has no power"

I agree
Wish we hadn't lost that trademark

I think they have the rights west of the Mississippi. We've got east.

There's quite a BIG difference betweem the two T's and the color of the ORANGE too.
If you can't tell the difference somethings wrong.
Texas is good but as far as being ranked #2, well not sure. I'd rank them among the top 4 though.
