I sincerely hope there is not a "Randall Cobb" type player we do not recruit hard if at all and turns out to be a beast! If there is one, who is it?

IMO Derek King will be our 2010 Randall Cobb if we dont land him. He's good, and will be good wherever he goes.

I think we'll get King tho :crossfingers:

Cobb is a great athlete, but I feel like he mostly thrives in Kentucky's system due to its lack of playmakers. I'm not sure he would be anything special at UT...

Yeah I believe we pull King. He is going to be a good shutdown corner.

By definition, he can't be a "Cobb" if we're trying hard to get him.

devrin young

I think he is a solid high school running back, but I would be very surprised if he ended up making a splash in a major D-1 program. Randall Cobb was a phenomenal athlete that Fulmer did try to get, but it was too late. IMO, we don't need to use up a scholly on a questionable college RB when, in the same class, we already have Tom Smith, who will likely be bumped to a 4 star by the end of his season.

Yeah, like I said above, I thought this was just about instate guys left that could possibly come in a make a difference on offense, and I was thinking more along the lines of return specialist/rb for Devrin.

This.

+ 1,000,000,000

Cobb is a really, really good football player. But there are 15 guys on our roster who would be Cobb if they were at Kentucky. Nuke (pre-prison) would have been Cobb at Kentucky. So would Teague. And we couldn't figure out how to get them in position to make a difference. Cobb changes games because there are 2 playmakers on that team. And Kentucky does an excellent job of recognizing this and using it. 50% of the plays they run are designed to get the ball in Cobb's hands. He's a very good football player in an excellent system for him.

I totally disagree.

Cobb has killed SEC defenses.

Im calling you guys crazy if u think we have guys who could produce at KENTUCKY the way Cobb does with very few other weapon, why arent they doing that here at tennessee.

soemtimes you have to give credit where its due, Cobb has turned out to be 20 times the player most thought he'd be.
