Anyone else prefer 2 wheels over 4 and a cage?

Ive ridden since i was about 18, I prefer sportsbikes myself. Honda CBR is my poison.

But enjoy almost all bikes and most other riders. Do you have any favorite rides? (locations)

The HondaHoot is comming up towards the end of the month in knoxville. Just wondering if there was any fellow riders on the board?

I would like to eventually start riding. I like the look of Honda bikes, but I think they tend to be a bit overstated. I tend to like something generally more plain and sleek-looking, like the Ducati 999R (perhaps something a little less spendy, though).

I'll probably eventually buy a bike and get a motorcycle recommendation.

Sorry, but spending nights in the Trauma ER really tends to curtail a man's desire to ride. Not to mention that one of my good friends is now without half of his brain due to a bike wreck.

It would be fun, I'm sure. . . .but so is living. If you're gonna do it -- move to Florida where there's no helmet law. That saves a lot of pain, suffering, and burden on the healthcare system. I really find it odd that we have "universal" seat-belt laws in order to protect our citizens and keep down medical costs, but it is OK to go flying down the road without even having a car around you.

Not trying to incite anyone, just my :twocents:

Well, Arizona has no helmet law but at least there's a reason behind it. It seems too many riders through the desert were passing out from the heat and it was blamed on the helmet.

I agree w/ you kiddiedoc, I've been to 3 funerals caused by bikes and I don't want anyone to go to mine. FYI, 2 of them had to be closed casket. Good luck if you've got one and be careful.

Yes it is something with alot of risk. I myself have lost 2 friends, and even questioned my love for it.

I ride suspicious of every one on the road. In TN the helmet law has been argued up and down. I dont even know the law or status of the bills in question. I wear a helmet period! Most occasions full leathers, boots, gloves. Ofcoarse its my decision and may or may not help in the event of an accident.

Milo as for a pref on bikes? Its a thing of once you decide to ride and get some road time on different bikes you'll find which one suits your riding style best. That 998r or 999 is top of the premo line.

Its mostly hand made and light as can be! Also the price is as wicked as the power it has. I would say, but not as advice, to start out with something a little less full blown learjet. Ive owned 250's a 500, 2 600's and a 750cc.

The 750 was great, but the power was way more than i needed, so i went back to Honda and the 600. I ride alot in all surroundings, but for fun the 600 is perfect for slice'n thru twisties and back roads. And holds its own at the local dragway for street war type runs in the 1/4.

Good to hear she wasnt seriously injured. Thats not only scary but also a good chunk of $$ to have to lay down.

But its best to lay one down than to go along for the ride its about to take you on. One of my friends tried to stay with the bike, he was dragging knee's thru a valley, when he didnt break quick enough for the corner. He thought he could just ride it out over into the other lane.

Thankfully there wasnt a veh comming in the other direction, But he didnt bail out and take the slide, instead slammed into the guardrail and over the hill. He was in full gear, if he'd laid it down he'd been fine.

I know, I'm just talking looks-wise, and maybe if I eventually become proficient (and have $30k to drop on a bike). Most I'd want right now is a 500, probably a 250 for inexperience and my cash stocks. Hondas seem to be a good choice.

And yes, I also know somebody who was hurt in a motorcycle accident. He is a neighbor and a good friend of mine. He was hit from the side by an RV about three miles from here. His arm was useless for about three years before they just amputated it. He still rides quads and buggies.

The Ninja 250 is fun as can be. I rode it for about 3 years before moving up, and kept it for 3 more after buying my 600's. Pending new or used, you can pick up a 250 new for about 3,200-3,500 or a good used one much cheaper. I think when i sold mine i had 47,000 miles on it and no major repairs. You can just about do all repairs if needed on your own.

If i had it all over to do again, when i bought a used 500, id never have bought it. The fiddi was much more fun and very nimble.

Nice, I couldn't find an orange one, so I went with black and silver. I have an orange T on it though.

Have any good places to ride over your way? We have some great places here including a trail called the Creeper Trail. Used to be train tracks...

I ride a 2001 Harley Nightrain. I am thinking about redoing the bike though. However with the base engine being black I cant thing of a way to may a Vol Theme appear right. Who knows I may do a Raider's Theme. Or maybe one better a Naked Chick Theme. Who knows but yeah I love 2 wheels.

After all the dissing of motorcycles I hate to admit that myself and my family own a Honda dealership in Danville ky... I have been on motorcycles since I was 4 years old, true they are dangerous, but so is boating, mountain climbing, hiking, scubadiving, anything with thrill seeking. You just have to be respectful of what u do. I haven't had any major accidents, but have had a few scrapes and broken bones. But it is all what u like to do...But for ibleedorange, I am riding a VTX1800F this year...I thought about coming down to the "hoot" this year, that is if I can get away.

Thats a hoss of a machine ALLVOLINKY!

I havent been over to danville in some time, But i have rode over that way a few times just out and about on the bike. Yea you either ride and love to or dont much care for motorcycles. People get hurt or killed every day just driving to the store or work in their cars.

Im recouping from a shattered heel, from a auto accident but hope to be off the crutches by the week of the Hoot. I doubt id be able to make the 2 hr ride on the bike, with the heel still very sore and swells after about 15 min's of non-elevation. So i'll probably trailor the bike, and ride once im in knoxville. Hope you get to make it'!
