After last nights game I'd like to see UT land a top Center in this years class. I haven't been following BB recruiting this year, are any on the horizon?

Anthony McClain...it'll be a battle with Cincy, and maybe even Florida...but we've got a good shot at him.

We have a big body coming in the '07 class (Brian Williams). He has work to do but he could end up being able to match the strength of a player like Glen Davis. We have McClain still in the picture for '07. We have Jurric and Baicu still in the picture in '08. We have Singleton also, but he is not really a banger.

We sure seemed to play small against the Bengals last night. Plus they were on fire from just about everywhere, especially the foul line. I just want to see us compete with the size and force of some of the other teams that I watch.

Scout.com still does have UT on McClains list. I've heard rumors that we are on his list for months from here and Rivals. Why is Scout not putting us on his list? Do we really have a good shot at getting him? When is the signing deadline?

One thing cost UT against LSU. Failure to hit Free Throws

I think what the Vols would do best with is a young man who could play tackle in football as well as center in BBall. A 6' 7-9'' 300 lber that can grasp the concept of aggressiveness and takin it in strong on the paint. A ramped up version of Dave Cowens if you like.

If UT would have hit 75% of their FT's in regulation Davis would not have mattered. 10 of 16 FT's in regulation cost UT that game

To be fair, you could flip that statement and the point would be true also. If they had done a better job on Davis, a few missed free throws wouldn't have mattered.

Like he said above, you could flip it and say that with 1 of the 2 we would have won. And, out of the two only one is a factore of pure effort. That is boxing out. As a coach, you can get much more upset about a missed box out than a missed free throw.

Not to be rude, and I have been drinking, but do you ever look a few topics down for your answer before you post this question. I bet this has been asked, in one way or another, 4 times in the last two weeks or so.

No, I didn't see another thread about Center prospects. Did you look to see if there were any other threads about center prospects before you posted this?

But thanks for not being rude.

Anybody else hearing the rumors that we are backing off on McClain? Anybody have details?

On a side note, Singleton and Williams are sky rocketing in the rankings. Rivals is now saying that Elliot Williams will be a future NBA PG. If we land those two, which is very possible, we would have 2 Top 50 players. They are talking like Singleton could even become Top 25.

Pearl is a modern day Moses, leading the the Vol basketball program out of the wilderness and into the promised land. I never thought that we would ever mention Tennessee and top 20 basketball recruits in the same sentence with any regularity.

I've heard that the coaches visited McClain twice and came away unimpressed and that they will still recruit them just not as hard, nothing like they did Ramar last spring. They think that McClain would provide as much as Williams will(both aren't ready).

bummer. I did hear on a Leslie McDonald interview on rivals just a minute ago is supposedly the best player in the state in 2009. The first school he mentioned was UT .

Also keep in mind that most basketball coaches start goin after players when they are sophmores and juniors. In Pearl's first season he recruited 3 top 50 players and he only recruited them for one season. Now that is impressive.

Are we interested enough in McClain to offer him a visit? Just read that he is planning to visit UConn in the next few weeks.
