Clausen is the starter for the rest of the season, including the SECCG unless a miracle happens. Leak is the emergency QB

Here's a novel idea:

Since we seem to have a plethora of capable backs, but none that really seem to jump out at you as the "go-to" guy, why not put Riggs behind center, keep the fullback, drop Houston and Davis into the Wishbone, and POUND AWAY!

Then, we won't need a QB!

'Course, what will we bicker about then???

 Now that's smash mouth football!

It worked in the 1951 Cotton Bowl, when the #4 Vols upset the heavily favored #3 Texas Longhorns, 20-14. Tailback Hank Lauricella rushed for 154 yards on 16 attempts and fullback Andy Kozar rushed for 94 yards and 2 tds on 20 attempts. The Vols rushed for 295 yards as a team.

The Vols were fresh off a victory over QB Babe Parilli and Bear Bryant's No. 4 ranked (at the time of the game) Kentucky squad, 7-0. No. 1 Oklahoma was beaten by No. 7 Kentucky in the Sugar Bowl.

No. 2 Army was beaten, 14-2, by Navy.

But alas, the polls were taken before the bowl games then.

I have some qualms about GRJ taking snaps from center... he's had fumbling problems in the past, and it just doesn't feel good.

Of course this is all speculation, as they won't change offenses in mid-season.

Allvol, how old are you? How do you have such knowlegde from the 50's? :dunno:

I'm only 33, but I love the Vols and all the things about them.... hence the allvol name. I've got some good source material for Vol history too. And I read alot.

I starting going to the Vols' games in the late 70's and early 80's.... but the first games that I actually remember were in 1985.

I got really into it when Tony Robinson threw for around 400 yards against UCLA in the opening game of the 1985.

My dad grew up going to Vols games when he was a kid. His high school coach was former Vol player Al Rotella. (also dad to former Vol Jamie Rotella). Coach Rotella would tell the players to meet at such-and-such gate before the game and he would get them in free.

I do remember listening to the win over Alabama in 1982 on the radio with my dad and him dancing and singing all over the house. You'd have to know my dad to realize how out of character that was!

we have to still throw the ball and in my opinion throw it more. Our rec. are great we have to have to ball in meach, swain, fayton and hannons hands. They can make plays

I really think we need to squeeze both Clausen and Leak in on these last 2 games.Fulmer said they both were looking good.If we are not going to see Ainge or Schaeffer again this year it would be better if Clausen and Leak both saw some action to get ready for the SEC championship.
