Seems likely that if no agreement this weekend we could see a massive sell off on Monday. Considering moving my entire 401k to cash tomorrow.

Anyone have similar thoughts?

Heard some speculation on the radio today. According to the 2 guys that I heard short term is shaky at best.

That almost sounds like a "Chicken Little" type response to this debt ceiling thing, sorry couldn't resist.

Sorry to interrupt your petty diatribes again, but there's a big difference between making ridiculous predictions and acting based on market conditions.

No vote tonight.

Good work, Mr. Speaker.

Wait a minute - this thread is about a pending market crash. A bill didn't get passed tonight that could have stopped that and you are cynically cheering? One of these things is not like the other.

Market conditions are relatively stable both in the treasuries and stocks.

No deal tomorrow may tank the market but a deal will bring them back. Pulling out now risks missing the comeback.

Do what you like but market conditions this week don't justify yanking all holdings out of the market - if they did, you'd be seeing it already.

I'm not doing anything. I don't have anything in the market, mostly because I don't have any money.

I'm saying that that guy's comparing something from another thread to therealut's reaction to the market, and that's an apples to airplanes comparison at the very best.

Pulling out now gives me an opportunity to buy low in a week; worked for Ford investors; worked for me w/ regard to Toyota; here's hoping it works again. No need to ride the downhill slope just to take the following upshot.

Don't forget that mutual fund orders don't execute till 4pm and by then or just after then a deal may be struck. I did a little gambling and bought some calls on a 2x bull ETFs

That is why you have to place two buy orders (where you think it will drop to and where a few fractions of a point over where it was when sold). I am still completely focused on TM, though; I think they will continue to rise once this crisis passes.

So are you talking about your entire retirement fund or some speculative fund.

If I understood LG, he's talking about getting completely out of the market with all his holdings.

check -- like I said it sounded like the OP was bailing completely with all investments.

I can see pulling the speculative stuff but my 401K and other retirement funds are staying put.

Avg down if you can in your 401K plans. The ones that sold out last week and Monday and are waiting to get back in, good move. This has been a dream and a very easy short postion all week. What a rush!

That short term solution would have never passed the senate and you know it.
