Since we are talking about UT merchandise, and I can't start my own thread yet, does anyone know where or if its even possible to get an official game ball? Not just a Wilson ball but with the "T" on it. Anyone ever seen one for sale?

Since the Falcons won today and I'm feeling charitable, you get your own thread. :good!:

Here is an anecdote. I have a good friend who is also a UT grad and a Major in the U.S. Special Forces community. His wife recently contacted Dooley (obviously before he was fired) through a good mutual friend who was somehow deeply entrenched in the Athletic Department. The point of this contact was to attempt to get a game ball to give to the Major as a Christmas present.

Long story short, Dooley supposedly replied that only one game ball was given per game to an outstanding player and that none were to be given to those outside the program. In essence: Green Berets who graduated from UT and have spent several years overseas, who bleed orange, could in no way get a game ball from the University. That is all I know about getting "real" game used balls.

For full disclosure, I do believe that my friends were told that Dooley would write a letter to the Major in lieu of a game ball. I honestly do not know if the letter was ever sent or received.

I'm sure that there are enough to supply each and every person that asks for a game ball.

Got this game ball from a student athletic trainer back in late 70s.Then had it signed by Peyton at a autograph show in Atlanta. He also passed it back and forth before signing it.

Ebay is probably your best bet. A guy with the ebay name of bigburphy00 sold a crapload of them the past few months. Sale prices varied from like $70 to $220 per ball though. I overpaid, but was happy to get one (okay, i bought two). Good luck.

If this is true then what he told the friend was his own policy and not the schools. I've seen many game balls, some signed by the coach and some signed by players whose eligibility had lapsed having been given by the school to various charities to be auctioned off at fund raisers.
