just curious if anyone else saw the preview to the Cotton bowl during Saturday's gameday show. They started by showing how bad of a season we had and rolled into the Bama/TT game - now for those of you out there that think ESPN is "fair and balanced" are delusional. That was just plain disrespect.

Now this is a thread I can get behind...

Its up to the VOLS to shut them up! Quit giving them the ammo to fire at us!

It be true. It stings but Crimedawg is right. ESPN just reported what actually happened. Went from kicking a$$ in the Cotton Bowl to sitting home during the holidays.

I did not notice but if they did it was only because the Vols deserved it. Only Chokelahoma and Meeeshigan had anything close to the meltdown UT experienced and they both went to bowl games and finished in the final BCS Top 25. Just wait until next fall, all we will hear is "Will UT choke again?" There will be countless hours over radio and tv debate, as well as print pages, devoted to studying whether we can loose more games in '06 than we did in '05. When you are down everyone kicks you.

Hello ... Earth to Matilda ....

For this year's performance, you simply don't deserve any respect. Come on, get a thicker skin. You were preseaon top 5 and stunk up the joint. No one's going to jail. Just means you had a sucky year. Get over it.

Not saying we don't deserve what we are getting....just don't see how it relates to Alabama's season and the Coton Bowl - that's all.

If you didn't see it you wouldn't understand how it ws shown- they had a 2 minute segment on the problems at TU and then WHAM Bama is 9-2...just didn't seem quite right.

They looked at last year's Cotton Bowl and what resulted from that. I'm not mad at ESPN for that. I'll go one further and say in the political spirit of things let's spin this around. This was more a slight at the winner of this year's CB. I guess Bama needs to take note. Nothing would make me happier than to see this year's CB winner go 5-6 next year.

And that would be different from the way some kick our own team around, here at the Nation.

The Vols did not choke. The offense was poorly coached and the coaches created a qb controversy. Choking had nothing to do with it. One more thing Tennessee's talent is no where close to Texas and USC offensively!!!!!

It is accepted custom in the HillbillyNation to disagree among your family so long as you present a united front to the outside world.

1) UF. Fake punt on fourth-and-9 from your own 32 down by 3 points against a weak offense in the 3rd quarter. I think that is a choke because we were all told that the punter had discretion (i.e. the coaches did not make the call).

2) UGA. Chris Hannon fumbled at own 45 down by 6 points with 12:55 in the fourth quarter. Oh yeah, that's a for real choke.

3) UA. Arian Foster fumbles near the goal line with 5:08 in the 4th quarter and score tied 3-3. Choke-a-matic.

4) Vandy. Well, what can you say. Really a whole team choke but Rick Clausen's intercepted pass with time running out is worthy of being singled out as a choke play.

No chokes? Tell no jokes. Stop takin' tokes on the left-handed smokes.

Maybe the post suggest what about all the other years UT played well enough to get into bowls, etc., maybe he's referring to respect year in and year out.Thats how I read it.

I did notice it...i was like "that's it? that's how you end that???" but i then remembered, we did suck, and probably deserved it....but still, you could almost see Chris Fowler with a smirk on his face.....

Would that be the same Chris Fowler who voted FOR Peyton Manning in the '97 Heisman balloting? Threads like this validate everything Fowler said about us in the Woodson/Manning aftermath.

Oklahoma went 8-4, beat a top 10 team in its bowl game, and did this with a freshman QB and about 17 new starters. The 4 losses were to teams with a combined record of 43-6, including the National Champion. How that remotely compares to the embarassment that Fulmer & Co. put on the field escapes logic. We were in a league of our own where collapsing is concerned.

wasn't Fowler also the one that called us hillbillies or something to that affect as well?? Look i'm not one that buys in the conspiracy theory of ESPN to crumble UT, but i did find it odd that they spent the whole intro to discussing Bama/TX Tech showing and discussing our piss poor season? it was wierd.

Ohhhhh..... Well, now, see I totally agree with that. I do think that overall Tennessee does not get the respect it deserves as an overall football program for the past 10 years. I do think that this year throwing darts at UT is totally fair game.

Did ESPN also do a segment on how crappy Texas A&M's season was?

So let us review..

Southern Cal fans feel that ESPN is bias against them because they mocked Leinart for his comments during the post-game.
Texas fans feel that ESPN is bias against them for all the USC love
UGA fans feel that ESPN is bias against them for the Harrick crap and the UF love-fest
UA fans feel that ESPN is bias against them for the probation and money garbage.
AU fans feel that ESPN is bias against them because of last year
UF fans feel that ESPN is bias against them due to pumping up Bobby Bowden

Good lord people....quit crying.

ESPN doesn't hate us. They gave us props all pre-season for crying out loud

It's a joke how people go out of their way during the day finding ways to imagine people hating us.

We sucked this year. We shouldn't expect ESPN to be kissing our ass.
