how hard is it on a scale of 1-10...

our home laptop has red streaks running from the top of the screen down about 2 inches

TIA

About a 3. Not very difficult.

The bigger question is if it makes sense to buy a new screen or just get a new laptop. Sometimes they're only about $100, but in certain cases they can be a lot more.

Thnaks, I think the screen is only $61.00 bucks..
So I think I'll give it a try

Shouldn't need anything other than a small Phillips screwdriver. Maybe a knife blade to separate the facing that covers the screws and the facing that holds the screen in.

just watched a you tube video doesn't seem to hard... 6 screws holding the screen in, a video cable and 4 screws holding in the bezel frame
now I just need to order the screen

make absolute positive you get the right replacement screen. The connector is on one specific side (and which side varies not just from brand to brand, but exact model to exact model). There isn't enough slack to cover the difference. Outside of that, it's easy. Only worry is losing the tiny screws.

thanks, I'm going to get a magnitized electronic screwdriver set today....
so it should make keeping up with the screws easier

Screen with $ 79 bucks with shipping

well it's done...had to send the first screen back, so it took an extra week...

wasn't too bad...except for the tiny screws

LAPTOP LCD SCREEN FROM $44. HP ACER TOSHIBA DELL APPLE COMPAQ. Notebook screen, laptop display, notebook lcd, laptop tft, screen DELL, ACER lcd, screens SONY, lcd DELL, ACER lcd.

screen country, and I would recommend taking it out to get the model number, off the back..
As VMB said it's critical to match the sceen model...

I had two choices based off my laptop type, and didn't take it out first, and of course I ordered the wrong one, and it cost another 15 bucks to get a shipping label from them to return it and get another one..

One more recommendtion is to run the small screw driver over a magnet to magnetize the tip. It helps to keep up with the tiny screws

it's pretty easy takes about 5 miuntes to replace it once you get the screen

changing it out was easy, but I think I got a bad screen. The color is off as is the resolution

well time for another screen

sat the laptop dowm on an ottoman

then was helping my 5year old with her side kicks, for TKD, and I went to show her how to chamber her kick, and as I was leaning back she side kicked me and I fell into the ottoman, and slammed the screen on the mouse..

guess she doesn't need anymore help
