I don't care how many polls show him to be the frontrunner. I think this guy will get mowed down by conservatives.

Reality check is coming for those conservatives. The options for them are limited to full blown socialists from the Dem camp or middle to left leaning Repubs. If they put forth a true conservative, they will reap the benefits by making Hillary a shoe in.

I disagree completely. It's not like there are a lot of moderate Republicans relishing the opportunity to go vote for Hillary Clinton.

Have you seen those single digit numbers among GOP voters in polls? There are some strange birds who would actually vote for her.

Reminds me of the 2000 election when MSNBC was doing a post debate focus group with some truly moronic undecided voters and a guy proudly announced that he was a Republican but he was voting for Ralph Nader because he had decided that he most closely shared his conservative values.

It's not about how many votes Hillary steals, it's about how to get the Hillary hating democrats to vote against her. Best solution is probably a left center republican. Gingrich alienates as many people as Hillary, so putting him up there makes no sense. Conservatives may not want to say it today, but do understand.

I think he will get attacked from all sides. On the surface, I could get behind him. I think it's all downhill from now for him. Nothing but bad will be revealed for him.

If the evengelicals had turned out the vote in '06 the Rs would still have the senate and the margin in the house would be closer. People who voted R in '06, for the most part, are partisans who will vote R in '08 no matter who the candidates are. Therefore, logic dictates that the Rs must have a candidate who the evangelicals can get motivated about. Hence, we see the likes of Gingrich genuflecting to the religious right.
