Anyone else notice that the Pats are running the Air Raid?

Yep, straight up...there's even quite a bit of info on it on the web. They've been using it more and more in the past few seasons, which is why Cassel played so well when Brady went out...it really IS the system.

Brady takes almost every snap from the gun with 4-wides...he makes quick, short throws and they go no-huddle...putting the ball in the air for 40+ times a game and a 400-yard-per-game avg...you'd think they hired Leach as OC haha.

The only wrinkes they've added are going two TE but that's because both of their TEs are fantastic, but they do flex them out quite a bit as well because they're both big, athletic guys who can run and catch very well.

The "Pro Style" is pretty much dead. Every week I'm seeing NFL QBs taking more than half their snaps from the gun in spread formations. RBs are getting smaller and smaller...not too much 3-yards and a cloud of dust anymore.

Brady's numbers are a product of the system...he's a great QB, but his numbers weren't ridiculous until they made the offensive switch. Tell me his stat lines don't read like a Mike Leach Texas Tech team...

Why not, if you have an elite qb?

Define "elite"

Was Hawaii's Brennan or Tech's Kingsbury elite?

Brady certainly wasn't elite at Michigan. Judging by the fact that 30 teams passed over him 6 times and he wasn't drafted until round 7, means they didn't believe he was elite either.

Brady was swapped in out for Henson and Cassel didn't play at all in college. Both were successful for the Patriots, why? Seems like the same reason that QB's are successful at Tech and Hawaii. They put up huge numbers but they don't do anything in the NFL. Why?

Plus, it was proven the Patriots cheated every season when they were winning the Super Bowl. All three of the Patriots Super Bowls were won by 3 points. Tell me it's not easier to know when defenders are blitzing, running man coverage or playing zone. Tell me it's not easier for the defense to know when the offense is passing or running. Knowing what routes the receivers are running. Etc.

Patriots flat out cheated and still barely won Super Bowls. Tom Brady is a good QB. But so was Brennan in college. He's not good because he is good, he's good because the system would make lots of QB's good. Just like it made Cassel good. Just like Tech's makes any QB good.

That's my take on it anyways.

Brady was drafted in the 6th round. Just curious, when was Montana drafted? He must not be elite either since every team passed over him til the third round.

Not Air raid. Air raid came from Norm Chow, Doug Scovil, Lavell Edwards. Leach and Mumme jacked up splits, went 10 personnel, and BOB Vertical Set protection. Was originally for 21 personnel.

EP totally different animal. 15+ Gap and BOB schemes. Numbers for formations and protection. Alerts and sight reads everywhere.

Pats rarely go 10 personnel.

Air raid playcalls sound like = Ace 92 Shallow
Pats = Zig to 1 out slot ride 35 boss "alert" 50 hitch opeq.

Pass-happy league nowadays.

Only handful in college use the terminology and direct system. Tons use the Tony Franklin system in high-school ball. All of the original stuff came from league. Its all built on horizontal stretches. Shallow came from Denver and inverted drive. Y-stick, blah, blah. Every team in the league has some sort of these plays. Systems and terminology all very different. Hawaii/SMU is a 180 from TTU, ECU, WVU. Only thing similiar is the fact they throw 60 times a game.

And I said that wrong. From what I remember, 92 is mesh. 6 is y shallow.
