how some of the talking heads on espn are detracting from Andrew Luck's abilities and talking up other Heisman candidates like Barkley and Griffen III. I'm not a Luck homer but I can see some irony in this...

Consensus #1 draft pick
Heisman front runner at the beginning of the season
Returns for his senior season to win a National Championship
Senior season not quite up to the enormous hype

Anyone else see the similarities?

Luck is actually a redshirt junior.

Alright, cool. Although my point is flawed with inaccuracy, the original premise is that espn, whose website had Luck listed as a senior by the way, is detracting from Luck's Heisman candidacy...which I found ironic.

I wonder how Luck is still the front runner. Stanford only played one good team, and got blown out at home. Barely beat California last week. Luck is only 19th in passing yards. Robert Griffin III has better stats in every passing category at this point.

Stanford has a better record?

Record generally plays a part. 1 loss Stanford is rated higher than 3 loss Baylor and 2 loss USC.

I have no problem if Griffin wins but you're playing dumb if you're going to ignore the fact that record plays a part in Heisman voting.

But record is not the reason Luck is the front runner. It seems like Kellen Moore was out of the race before it even started, and Case Keenum is undeated. There are so many more players right now that have better numbers on 1 or 2 lose teams yet all you hear is Luck.

Just like record plays a part, conference strength plays a part too. You can argue the Big 12 is a better conference than the Pac 12 but there is no argument about either one being better than MWC and CUSA. Case Keenum should be in the debate with Griffin, Barkley and Luck since he is undefeated but I think Moore is automatically eliminated. If you're going to give a 1 loss QB the Heisman, it's most likely going to the guy who plays in the Pac 12 over the guy who plays in MWC. I definitely agree with you that Griffin and Keenum should be in the debate. Baylor's defense gives up a ton of points it's not the offenses fault, they rarely turn it over. And Case Keenum is putting up big numbers on an undefeated team. Unless Stanford loses another game, I think Luck finishes higher than Moore by default. Personally, I wanted Griffin to win. 3 losses is hard to overcome and so is playing against lower competition in the MWC and CUSA.

I'm not saying I agree with it necessarily. I'm just saying that's how it usually goes

I have def. thought of it. Manning, part 2. Just give the danged trophy to the best player in the country. It's Luck and it's not that close.

Luck is good but seeing what Harbaugh has done with Alex Smith makes you wonder how much was the coach last year vs. this year.

RGIII is the best college football player in the country. Lol hater.

Uh, no he isn't. He's in a garbage conference littered with defenses that make the PAC 12 Ds look like the Steel Curtain. Trent Richardson is the best football player.
