The original. Not that snake Roy D Mercer who stole all of Leroy's stuff. Leroy is a character created by Johnny Bean. If yall read Sam Venable's article this past Sunday, then you read about Johnny. My dad's best friend back in the day. Apparently his song "Tennessee" is now a state song. Listen to this...

IIRC the tape had 3 phone conversations,
the auto parts dude, the shoe salesman,
can't remember the other?

This is the one I remember. Auto clerk sounded seriously close to stroking out. Shoe clerk "How they get wet?" Caller "G-damn water, how you think?"

Seems like it was Corryton, IIRC.

Yep, hung out in Maynardsville where he got most of his advice.

He also called a hardware store to ask abt ammo. Complained abt price offered reloads....G-D them ull blow up in yer face.

I also heard him talk to someone abt buying a burial plot. 'Can you stack 'em? If you can is the man or woman buried on top?'

The funeral plot one is awesome - he keeps the woman on the phone for about 10 minutes asking some of the dumbest questions imaginable. He tells her about friends that were killed and she tells him about a pregnant girl that died via a stroke.

First he says "was is a bad stroke?"

Then he says something about losing the baby and she tells him the baby survived. His response?

"Well Praise Be" "That kid ain't never gonna amount to nuthin'"

There's also the famous "Well if you've ever had a loved one that's been ate by pigs you think about that stuff" in the one where he's trying to buy some pigs.

the track called "Ikey" on the cd they put out a few years ago is him and a friend drunk trying to find my father's house. My father is "Ikey". Not kidding.
