I’m thinking about switching and curious about coverage and data speed and whether or not the recent addition of sprint users to the network has caused any issues.

I currently have Verizon but my data has been extremely slow. I’ve been told it may be cause the Knoxville market is oversaturated.

AT&T not in consideration?
They are. I've had AT&T and didn't have any issues. However, the deal I can get on tmobile right now is substantially better than AT&T's pricing. I'm still weighing options.

Understood, Freak. Folks joke that AT&T's failed bid to buy T-Mobile a few years back gave them billion$ with which to undercut AT&T's pricing.

I had honestly forgotten that AT&T tried to buy T-mobile.

I left AT&T several years ago when the only options they had for family plans were data buckets. My kids would have burned through all my data and left me with nothing. lol. I never had any issues with the service though. And it does look like they have some decent plans.

The t-mobile deal I'm looking at is a really good one, I just worry a little about coverage.

That's because their coverage is garbage.

The only service I haven't had in the last year is Sprint (don't have to worry about them now anyway). At least here locally (and in Alaska) AT&T > Verizon >>>>>>>>> T-Mobile

Where TMO works in Knoxville... the data is blazing.

There are shadows and weaker spots, but I never had many issues around town. The further outside of the area you go, you'll have a few more issues than you had from VZ and ATT, but I would have to think them adding the sprint towers, plus flipping on roaming deals with USCC would mitigate that to a degree.

If you're in town the vast majority of the time, I'd switch. The only reason I left is my cabin is in some sort of cell service black hole comparable only to the one in Oak Ridge near X10/Y12. The only thing that works up there is VZ so that's who I'm stuck with. Their data in East TN has been bordering an horrible for a year or more.

Not a good idea!!!! where we are anyway... doesn't work on the lake...slow sending txt...slow n Nashville. Sending pix to me n FL.....watching paint dry........voice quality often in m out......
I'm sure it depends on location but, i've talked to other who travel and the don't like TM!!! for what it's worth!!

I have had them all, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular. I have been with T-Mobile for almost 5 years now. The absolute best service I have ever had no matter where I go. Their customer service is outstanding as well as very knowledgeable about their products - I can't say that about some of the other companies I have had service with. Plus T-Mobile Tuesdays are awesome! Highly recommended.

We had our daughter on t mobile, due to price, and there were major data holes. We switched from Verizon to AT&T and have been happy. No data buckets.

You must not go very far lol.

Thier customer service is pretty good. Free MLB TV is pretty cool as well. T-Mobile Tuesdays are cool too. Their coverage is straight hot garbage though.

Me and my wife use Metro (which uses T-Mobile towers), and we've been pretty happy with it. I think you'll like T-Mobile, Freak.

I go all over lol. We camp and hike alot and I have never had a problem in the mountains, at the beach, anywhere in the southeast really. There is one spot outside of Boone, NC that we frequent where my service will fluctuate between 4g and Extended network. But that is the only place I can recall ever not having very good coverage.

With AT&T & Verizon, their service was crap in my town and I was always dropping calls at home which is totally unacceptable. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired too.

I had sprint when I moved here the signal was trash. I switched to Verizon because everyone said they had the best coverage in the mountains and such around here. Now it sounds like t mobile is better?

In the Tri-Cities but I switched from V to T-Mobile back in January. Service and data speed is fine in town. Soon as I’m out of city limits its starts getting spotty. Haven’t decided if I will stick with them or not.

I got one line on a 14 day trial in order to test it out. Seems to work well in my normal home areas, but it doesn't get a signal inside my wife's work so it looks like a no go for me.

I may consider At&T or just stick with Verizon a while longer.

Is there wifi available where she works? That's how I got by when I had TMO because my office is a black hole signal wise. Between iMessage and wifi calling I didn't miss a beat.

Some Verizon plans are deprioritized which can affect your data speeds. If you are on one of those, switching to a plan with priority data might help your speeds.

There's wifi, but they have to lock down your phone if they allow access. So no.

It's not a deprioritation issue in this case. But that's what it feels like. Speeds have been better though since the day I posted when it was really bad.

Yeah, that tends to be the issue. Totally understandable. Its been a weakness for TMO for a while.

Supposedly they're building their 5G to work better in buildings but that obviously remains to be seen.
