Trying to help out someone. Need a mechanic who will install a headlight and tail light assembly which will be purchased online. (Those parts seem ridiculously priced, but seem affordable at carparts.com). The car is a 2004 BMW X5.

Also need someone who could troubleshoot and fix a coolant leak on said vehicle.

Any suggestions?

I've never been there personally but friends I have love this place:

M&M House-Breaks, & Mufflers.
6212 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919
(865) 584-7136

I don't know if they can install those parts but it may be worth a call.

I’ve seen these guys. Was actually thinking of taking the car there tomorrow. Have you used them?

It's the ONLY place I trusted with my prior BMW. They specialize in Beemers, and I believe many of their guys came from the local dealer. Fantastic work, very reasonable, and honest.

I used to be in the parts business. As far as large garages go, they are a very good shop. Well managed and they usually have some quality, well trained techs. I would definitely vouch for them.

I had a BMW guy in Hardin Valley that was an absolute wizard...but he's a little odd and hermit-y. Kind of an acquired taste and isn't a fan of any of the newer ones.

Coolant leak on that car is probably the thermostat or brittle coolant lines. I had that problem with my 03 325i back in the day.

04 X5, tell your friend to put her down lol. It doesn’t have much left in the tank.

My buddy Hahns is at Raceway Automotive in Maynardville. I make the trip from West Knoxville whenever I need work, he is great. It's very small, may want to call ahead if you're still in need.

M&M can fix anything. If they'll take the job. Remember they're primarily a brake & muffler operation. I grew up with those guys and this is all they've ever done. Take your car there and you'll be in good hands.

European Auto Garage hands down. Owner is a former BMW mechanic that used to go around the easy coast training everyone else. Very knowledgeable and ethical. Don't waste your time anywhere else. Tell Rich or Andrew I sent you.
