Saw a quote in the Gruden Cliff Notes thread where the 247 site said it had contacted two different coaches who had coached at TN and they indicated Gruden had contacted them about the college game. (Something to that but it's over in the coaching forum if you want to read it word for word.)

Joe Biddle said tonight on WKRN News 2 that he talked to Gruden's brother and that Jon Gruden said "tell those fans in Tennessee to stop calling my name, I'm not coaching college ball"...that might not be exactly what he said but it's close.

i honestly dont expect a NC in year one, or year zero.... ahem... but by year two i would like to see a winning record. somewhere around 8 wins. and be a serious competitor for the east by the next year.

Speed can't be taught . Strength can and pursuit angles/technique can. What I want to see is our team lining up correctly, reading offenses correctly and vice versa, and being in position to make tackles and finishing off the tackle when we make contact. If we get outran by higher calibre athletes , it's not the end of the world. That will happen for a while until we get back to where our recruiting needs to be. But there's no excuse for the utter lack of discipline and cluelessness going on right now. A lot of these kids we've been starting have played at a high level in HS. They all act like they're high and can't handle their weed.

If Gruden wanted the Tennessee fan base to stop calling his name don't you think he could have accomplished that by acknowledging it at some point in the media and making it clear that he wasn't a candidate?
C'mon people. I'm not saying he's coming but he clearly isn't having a problem with his name being in the mix for whatever reason whether it be leverage for other jobs or because he had some interest in the job.

You all better hope that Gruden comes or there will be a complete meltdown of the UT fan base. For me, my expectations are tempered based on recent history. I just want a good solid coach with a winning track record who can handle the media, recruit, and build a successful program. Oh wait, we had that in Phillip Fulmer....

Just when I realize I've done something stupid, I come to this site and see that people actually want Fulmer back. It makes my mistakes seem brilliant..…......

Yes and I assume that Gruden suddenly needs the assistance if his brother as his mouth piece to tell a reporter for the fans at Ut to stop bothering him. Sounds like too many channels to convey a message that Gruden could more easily convey himself especially considering his immediate access to the media. Therefore, my analysis of this is BS

Exactly. If this has been the case the hold time ****Gruden. Him letting this talk rise to the pt it had helped put a dark cloud over this season. IMO hurt any chance we had if success was possible. IMO he used us to get his name out there to get him a new job. And all these so called smart negavols fell for it and ran with it. Pathetic.

24 of his losses came in his final 5 years. Are you telling me that you want a coach that averages 5 losses a year? Why can't you understand that coaches aren't dominant forever? You have to understand when it's time to cut your losses and move on.

Fulmer just needed some young blood to help with the change in football.
