Following conversion, many in the Assyrian nation became actively involved in promoting the message of Christ carrying the gospel as far as China and Japan.

By the end of the twelfth century the Assyrian Church spanned much of Asia and was larger than the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox Church combined.

In the thirteenth century when Marco Polo arrived in China, he was amazed to find Assyrian Christian priests in the presence of the Chinese royal court.

(about as short and concise as possible for our overabundant attention span challenged posters who frequent this board.) :)

I imagine this came to an end with the Crusades?

You imagine quite wrongly.

Or perhaps you jest.
-----------------------------------------

The purveryors of islam slaughtered over a million Assyrian Christians in the twentieth century alone.

Persecution of Assyrians during the past several centuries has centered around their Christianity, not their ethnicity. It is only in the 19th and 20th centuries that ethnicity has come to play a role in the Middle East as a source of friction.

Records from the 19th century are plentiful and clear:

Islamic governments treated all "people of the Book" as tolerated second-class citizens. The Assyrians were subjected to poll taxes levied against non-Muslims and the oppressive feudal system prevalent in the Middle East, which combined to keep the Assyrians poor and starving.

But more immediately, they were the victims of Kurdish tribes often appointed as "tax farmers" for the Ottoman rulers in the areas where Assyrians lived. Kurds therefore became accustomed to abusing Assyrians both as a different, non-Kurdish speaking minority, and as Christians with no recourse to authority. Most egregious was the regular abduction of Assyrian girls and women.

The opportunity to emigrate came with the advance of Tsarist Russia southward and the entry of Western diplomats and missionaries. The first big emigration was to Russia, which is still a thriving and educated community that has retained its Aramaic languages since 1828.

The second emigration was to America, the Christian-friendly land that was able and willing to take a hardworking laborer or a good student. In the late 19th century, men began coming to work in cities with industrial jobs.

But persecution increased, as did opportunities to emigrate. The years 1895-6 were particularly severe as were 1905, 1909, 1912, 1914 and finally 1915, the Year of the Sword. By 1918, nearly all Assyrians were refugees somewhere. Until 1924, when the U.S. immigration law became more restrictive, Assyrians poured into the U.S.

During times of persecution, even with the backing of British and American diplomats and missionaries, there was little the Assyrians could do to defend themselves except make appeals, have the missionaries buy back their sisters and daughters, and study hard to improve themselves. Medicine and technical fields became their strength. As doctors, they passed the well-developed art of healing from ancient practice, plus Greek knowledge, to the rest of the Middle East.

more to follow when I am able to overcome jamming activity by our real enemies.

It wasn't a joke, I am learning something new.

Slavery, Terrorism and Islam:
(this is from about five years ago, with a few updates of my own thrown in.)

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness.

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs [Europe, Australia, USA and Japan]. Sixteen percent of US prison inmates are Muslim. Like any other minority, they won’t integrate, but work to build their own separate community. (At this point they push for more minority rights, particularly hate crimes against anyone who 'insults islam'.)

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. South Africa's Muslim population is 2%, but they control 35% of the businesses, a large percentage of the banks and have five Cabinet seats while Christians (77% of the population) have none.

President Zuma of South Africa celebrating his election victory, singing the song he wrote; 'pass me my machinegun so I can kill one more white."

They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves (along with threats for failure to comply).

(Obama introduced and got passed a halaal food bill act while in the Illinois state senate.)

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia; Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world, but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. (Ei: car-burnings in France) Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats. (Rape of infidels is generally considered in islam as a ligitimate form of jihad.)

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning (India, Mindanao, Philippines, Kenya).

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare [Indonesia, Thailand].

Sudan and Kososvo have gone from 40% or less muslim to 80% or more muslim populations in the past half century.

(the presently muslim dominated Thailand is returning all it Christian Hmong refugees to Laos where the communists will no doubt exterminate most, as around 2 million mostly Christians have been murdered in southeast Asia since the end of our involvement in Vietnam.)

(nearly a million mostly Christian tribesmen were slaughtered in Rwanda after the UN disarmed them and then the French and Clinton pulled out the peacekeepers because it 'wasn't safe for the peacekeepers.')

(No one really knows how many died in the Congo under the wicked rule of Idi Amin, only eight white people survived of a white population that was mostly doctors, nurses and missionaries and one of them was braindead from being beat in the head with a baseball bat, no doubt the majority of black Christians were slaughtered. Idi Amin received asylum first in Gadaffi's Libya and now resides in splendor in Saudi Arabia.) (of course Hollywood has another version and sadly too may people think it is somewhat truthful.)

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya (infidel tax). (Sudan, Kosovo, Lebanon and Egypt).

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide [Western Papua (New Guinea), Iran, Biafra, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Northern Nigeria].

100% will usher in the peace of "Dar-es-Salaam" - House of Peace - as in Saudi Arabia, Libya, Afghanistan and Yemen.

Assassination of either friend of foe anywhere in the world is acceptable, if it be a foe then so much the better, if it be a friend then you create a martyr and blame the murder on the foe.

Even our word 'assassin' comes from Arabic although the muslims will paint you a completely false picture of what an assassin is and how the word came about.

There is no low they will not use to attain their purpose, you have principles and whether you personally accept Jesus or not, your principles have been derived from Christian beliefs, they have a principle; ie; dominate no matter what happens or what you have to do to attain domination.

(usually then two versions of islam will emerge and the battle to terrorize, dominate and/or exterminate the opposition will begin anew, Iraq.)

Not a complete story but enough for one to form a realistic picture.

And what do you mean by jamming by your real enemies?

Sometimes I seem to have more than my share of computer problems.

Volfreak assured me that he had some database problems yesterday, so my paranoia may have been misplaced.
