So my understanding is that Slaughter was a backup safety that was pressed into playing cornerback - which puts us onto third string on one side and Turnage played cornerback or safety? so 2nd or 3rd on the other side ?

I think we did but not quite that much. It just didn't show because the USC d-line was just too good. Very little pressure on Rat all night. Maybe we weren't trying to pressure hoping to keep him in the pocket, if that was the case - - IT WORKED! He stayed in for the most part and tore us up!
