We fell five spots to 17th this week. Not sure how losing on the road to Auburn would cause that much of a drop.

Seems about right to me…maybe even a little better than we earned over the close of the regular season. Team is not playing anywhere consistently close to a top 10 team.

I’m still hopeful they can get the offense to click at the right time heading into the tourney. We’ll need it if we’re to make any noise, because I believe the defense will take a big step back sans ZZ.

I agree...we were not predicted to win the game, so I think it was the loss, plus the cumulative impact of poor showings over the last month, in my opinion....and maybe realizing that if the NCAAT was at TB Arena, we may be national champs...but away from home, we're appearing to be extremely inconsistent.

Or maybe we dropped extra spots cause we lost ZZ and they saw we will struggle without him. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a higher seed than we thought because of that injury.

Other losses finally catching up. We were fortunate earlier because it seemed everybody in the top 10 kept losing. Now, the cream is separating. You can’t have our record over the past 10 games and have it not catch up. The ZZ injury likely doesn’t help.

Hard to believe we were ranked #2 in the nation and spoken of as a #1 seed not that long ago. Things changed pretty damned quick.

Injury bug + backloaded conference schedule + inconsistent offensive production.

Thats about where we should've been for a few weeks now based on how we've played. Even with ZZ we were ranked too high. Now we don't even have a true point guard. We should be probably be a few spots lower.

What's interesting is that as we wind down to the end of the season, we are settling in at about the same exact spot where we began the season. We just had a really nice run early on and through the middle of the season toward the top.

We are lucky to be there especially missing ZZ which I'm sure has to do with it.

I’m surprised we’re that high. Losing ZZ plus the fact that we have really just sleep-walked into some bad losses in the last several weeks could have easily dropped us to the edge of the top 25.

Maybe we can click on offense at the right time for once in the NCAA tournament. Otherwise, it’ll probably be a familiar early exit.

Have we ever gone two years in a row of being ranked wire to wire? It would’ve had to be under Mears if it ever happened, I would think. It didn’t happen under Pearl.

Last 2 years of Ernie and Bernie TN was ranked every week in 1975-76 but weren’t ranked for 4 weeks in 1976-77. But it was a top 20 poll back then instead of 25.
