AP tabs Josh Heupel as SEC’s top coach, Hendon Hooker as top player

It’s a big week on the awards front and Tennessee figures to be on the receiving end of plenty of honors after a breakthrough 10-2 season. It started on Monday with Josh Heupel being tabbed as SEC Coach of the Year and quarterback Hendon Hooker as the SEC Offensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press. Joining Hooker on the AP’s All-SEC first team were wide receiver Jalin Hyatt and offensive tackle Darnell Wright, while defensive end Byron Young was on the All-SEC second team.

They should invite Hooker to the Heisman ceremony as a guest analyst to be up there with the ESPN talking heads. It would be a way to honor him knowing he would have for sure gotten an invite prior to the injury.

Anyone who didn't enjoy this season needs to find a new sport.Glad for the honors are guys are receiving.

Wife and I missed one game (UT Martin).........hell of a season. Been years since we've had this much "consistent" fun. We dominated Florida, much more than the score suggests. The beat down at LSU was EPIC. How we beat the Gumps is classic (I mean, you couldn't dream or fantasize of a better ending. We miss an extra point, make it up with a 2pt conversion, they have a scoop and score late, and they get the ball on our 31, first and ten with 45 seconds to play and WE WIN.......on the last play of the game. How do you run 2 plays, move the ball 30 something yards and kick the winning FG in 15 seconds?). Kentucky and Missouri complete thumpings.............yep, what a freaking season it was!

I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if he finished in the top two of the vote at this point. All others that were hyped have fallen flat. Outside of Hendon Hooker and Jalin Hyatt, the player that has impressed me the most this season is Brock Bowers of UGA. That kid is a beast.
