AP Poll out

SC @ 12 = epic fail. Top 5 looks pretty solid. I'd take Boise State out and insert Nebraska.

My reactions:

1. Like clockwork, Notre Dame begins another season in the AP top 25 despite having finished the prior season outside the AP top 25. Shocking.

2. I'm still not sure I understand all the LSU love going into this season. As always, tons of talent on that team. But they have to go through Bama, Auburn, Arky, and MSU from the West; Florida and Tennessee from the East; and Oregon and West Virginia from OOC. Brutal schedule. I'll be very surprised if they finish the regular season with less than 2 losses.

3. I love seeing Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, and Tex A&M in the top 10; Missouri in the top 25; and TU outside the top 25. Remind why TU is the team that bosses everyone else around. (I know, I know - $$$).

What has Notre Dame done to get a spot in the top 25? If they want a spot in the top 25, they need to earn it.

Nd is given the benefit of the doubt every year. As for boise, if they win at uga early on, the jump in schedule difficulty from the wac to the mwc should be enough to get them safely in the national title game provided they go undefeated.

If the way we our scrimmage went yesterday is any indication, we are massively over-rated.

Whats going on. Can you elaborate?

Garcia looked like shat. The o-line looked like shat. It wasn't a good scrimmage. Garcia was like 3-11, or something like that. None of the QBs were good. We couldn't keep the d-line out of the backfield. Spurrier was pissed about it.

As stressed as the offense makes me, I am pretty confident our d-line is going to be a gang of badasses.

Hmmm.. And I just thought you were always being respectful complimenting our team and speaking about how USC fans shouldn't give UT fans a hard time over being on top of the East...

But you're just a "nega-cock!"

8 SEC teams in the Top 25 which is great, but what exactly did Florida do to deserve being ranked?

I would love to at least see UT in the teens before this season is out

Yeah Georgia too. Like I said always glad to see SEC in the Top 25 Florida and Georgia are questionable

I disagree about Auburn. They are National Champs, and should be ranked until they loose. They have as much talent as anyone coming up this year.

AP Poll does not mean anything. It's the coaches poll that reflects in BCS.

They lost a ton of highly rated NFL drafted players. They should be incredibly worse this year than last.

Someone should compare the historical AP pre-season rankings to the initial coaches poll for each year, filter out all the teams who were highly ranked in both because they were just good all season long, and see how the remainder correlates. Then you might be able to see how the initial AP Poll influences the initial coaches poll w/r/t over-hyped teams.

Dibs not it.

Agreed. FL should not be in the top 25. I know several teams that are probably better. Once again, this proves why the polls shouldn't come out until approx 3-4 weeks into the season.

Generally speaking, everyone will end up around where they deserve to be.

If teams are over-ranked or under-ranked, the season will let you know

I don't really think UF should be ranked, but at the 22-23 range its not terribly important, is it? Might as well be 35th. No one cares past the Top Ten, and by season's end the relevant list is usually much shorter than even that.
