Makes for one of “those” stories. I remember a Barnes’ team being picked 13th in the conference that did pretty well.

True . To me there are handful teams that can win it all SC Uconn USC UCLA Texas maybe. The rest of Top 25 and next 10 throw in a bag and just pick. Our Lady Vols to much unknown which is why not in Top 25 Preseason. In CHRIST Alone

I think they are capable of surprising everyone. The new additions plus the changes being made by the holdover players to their bodies/conditioning seem to suggest KC has all the pieces to play her system. The early schedule is light which hopefully allows them to get it down before the conference. I see a top 25 finish and winning a couple NCAA games as very possible.

These are media people. What they vote preseason doesn't effect their job security nearly as much as what they choose to print and say during the season, when they earn their advertisers' money.

So picking the LVs to finish low is a win-win for them.

If the LVs don't become a factor during the season, then they picked it right and the stories will come from other teams. But if the LVs do become a factor, then we are the unfolding story, the surprise team, the Cinderella story that has legs throughout the season.

This iteration of the Lady Vols with CKC will attract more outside-of-Tennessee-eyeballs if they are exceeding "official expectations." Plus, in terms of added media coverage... next year we'll be getting a baby bump!

This squad looks good on paper, but I believe the pollsters want to see them in action. This coach has been successful at each level she coached, but the D1 upper level is a different animal, especially in coaching, talent, and athletic abilities. I like the new coach’s fire and believe that she can win and have the team ranked within the top 25 later this year. All we can do is support her and the team and realize that there will be some growing pains.

I understand we're an unknown entity at this point with a new staff, new system and quite a few "new" players, but Vandy receiving more votes than Tennessee really chaps my rear. I mean, seriously?

Preseason is the ideal time for players and coaches to get their rears chapped.

South Carolina will be good but after watching their recent exhibition game against Memphis, they definitely are beatable imo!! They don’t have that go to post player like they’ve had in the past… still super talented team but they will look different this season!
