Against Maryville:

The Mr. Tennessee Football semifinalist finished the evening with 263 all-purpose yards and a trio of scores on 10 receptions for 105 yards, a half dozen rushes for 50 more, plus the record-setting kick return.(94 yards) On defense he had a trio of solo tackles and an assist to go with his "pick."

If this is the fourth best instate player, then who the hel- are the better three!?! AND a better question is where are the going to college?
Nah he’s the best player in the state imo. I know he’s being recruited to play DB but I hope he plays on offense. Dude is special.

Yeah I have no idea why he’s not a 5*, dude is a freak.
Agree...It all has to do w/ coaches identifying and coaching up talent w/ guys who have the character to what they're looking for. Seems Barnes and JH both have some high standards, which is paying off in both sports...plus, more than anything, if JH brings you in, whether you're a 3* or 5* (like Squirrel), you're getting on the field if you can be coached and produced. So refreshing to see player development w/ JH as compared to our black cloud decade +.

I hope it's not another Dee Williams situation where the most electric player on the field touches the ball 2 or 3 times a game.

Amari Jefferson is good, plays for my kids school. That being said I believe Boo is a solid notch better. At least more dynamic.

It’s mildly surprising that the best player in TN is 107th in the country.
Not really. While TN HS football has improved, the level of competition is no where close to the HS ranks in other states. Specifically, GA, FL, TX, CA. Not saying he won't excel in college, but I do think he's dinged because of the level of in-state athlete he competes against on a weekly basis.

Yeah, fair or not there is certainly a bump for playing in those other states. When top TN teams venture out of state to play the big boys you see why. The out of state powers generally whip up on the TN team, at least the ones I saw happened that way.

He’s being recruited on defense.

Need more talent in the secondary

While it would be great to lock in the top 10 in this state every year in recruiting, our state is a little different in that there's a large migration into the state. Kids playing don't grow up loving UT. I've accepted that we will miss out on a few really good players every year. Now that our program is on solid ground again, the lure of playing in front of family will keep a few more of them instate? It's one reason today's game is so big in my opinion. The chance to have a 10 win season again would really add fuel to our recruiting fire. Big, big game today. Hope Joe and the boys are up for it. If it were in Knoxville, I'd feel much better. Know we got UK on the road, but I'm not sure I'm sold on this team away from Neyland and Joe will continue to worry me despite his last couple of games.
