USC has 48hrs to respond to the ruling. what are the odds that their penalty will be downgraded.

I think the ncaa downgrade it because they don't want to hurt one of their best cash cows.

USC has already had 48 hrs to respond... that's why NCAA had to wait till today to announce anything because they were going to announce this past friday. But USC had not been notified before hand. USC will be responding today after the NCAA announces all the details.

I can't say for sure because I don't have first hand knowledge of how it all works....but I've noticed in the past that when the NCAA makes a ruling or defines a rule they almost never waver from it...

I'd say the chances of a downgrade are slim to none

The NCAA investigated for 4 years, I doubt they will be willing to ease up after spending that much time and money.

I don't think they'll overturn it. It didn't help USC's case to bring in a coach that was there when this stuff happened. They can't play the "don't punish the innocent new coach" card either.

i still don't understand the logic that the NCAA makes a lot of money off of USC

Won't be downgraded. If they were concerned with hurting their cash cow, they would'nt have came down with the sanctions in the first place. Honestly 4 years is a more reasonable number to me.

USC will appeal unless they know the evidence is concrete.

However, I don't see the NCAA backing down one bit.
