First of all yea i am venting. i hate Vandy only because of their fans, they do have good coaches. So, with that said we have terrible coaches. yes i know my football, and when you can not get more athletic players in position to win against lesser talent is awful. I will take all the crap the azz holes on here that kiss azz up in k-town but our defensive and offensive coaches are pathetic. You cannot have this play calling and defensive schemes against S E C talent. i will support the vols for another 40 yrs but we suck.

You need to read your own comments and then rethink what you just said. You have to have sec talent to compete with sec talent. And Vanderbilt has a tad more than Tennessee does at this point unfortunately. I don't care what kind of potential ours players had coming out of High school. They have not been developed and have no clue how to win. Its going to take a couple years. But if you can't see the talent lining up wanting to play in Knoxville then your blind.

On behalf of all rational vol fans everywhere, let me be the first to say thank you for your pathetic and useless comments. Feel free to vent anytime. However, I would suggest two aspirin and a good nap before you post again. Good luck as you deal with your negavol tendencies!

I want to know how come when someone comes on here to voice their opinion those who dont agree with it have to act like total douche bags and call people "pathetic". The op has every right to be upset as a "fan" about everything that happened last night. And to be honest the staff and team should be embarrassed to the max today.

Excuse me, perhaps you need a course in reading comprehension and anger management not to mention the fact you are a little touchy! I never called the person pathetic, I said his COMMENTS were pathetic. Can you understand this? Come on bro get your head in the game before you start going off on others. Read slow, it may help you understand a little better.

P.S. My first post applies to you as well! Good luck on your struggles!

IF you know football as you claim, you realize that natural talent will not get the job done without development into a skill. That development has not occurred at UT for oh about 5 years. Now for the difficult part. You are going to have to wait a while longer while talented people are working on those winning skills.

Vanderbilt does have more talent right now. Talent is not always judge by atheletic speedy guys. Talent is based on guys who are also developed and understand what game plan is put in place and knows how to make good angles. Make proper reads. Understand blocking schemes. Intelligence is also part of being talented. So yes Vanderbilt has a hell of a lot more TALENT than Tennessee right now. Sorry if that upsets any of you. 7-4 or 4-7. Which would you prefer.

You're giving up just a little too soon. Nostradamus says that 41 years from now, UT will win the National Championship playoff and dominate college football for centuries after that...

Well would you rather have had their Wrs lady night? What about their QBs? Can you point out the players on the Vols roster that are clearly better than those on Vandy's? Josh Smith perhaps? Dobbs?

You have a right to voice your opinion. I have a right to inform you that your opinion is idiotic.

People just don't understand freedom of expression these days...

At this point, Jordan Matthews is better than any receiver we have on our roster. And to be honest, their secondary looks light years ahead of ours. It is what it is. If you think we have all this talent, you are deluding yourself. We have some players not playing in their natural positions.

Baffles me how fan can't except the facts. I love Tennessee athletics. All sports. But when the talent isn't there I don't look for excuses. And complaining about coaching. Omg I wish some of these fans would drink a little more. No one wanted this job more than Butch. Obviously the players love him. And with all the recruits lining up to play for him then they see something in the future that is looking brighter.

You can justify anyway you like but Vandy is in no way more talented than the Vols. More experienced at certain positions, I'll grant you that. The difference in the game was superior coaching from a scheme standpoint and a motivation standpoint. Vandy wanted the game more and they got it.

So you are saying Franklin is better at developing the talent he has than Jones?

I wouldn't say that, but you can do a lot more with kids over time. The kids on UT have not had much since being here. Takes time to change bad habits and correct them.

Kinda like going in for golf lessons:
You have been playing the same way for years.
You pay someone to teach you the right way but when something goes wrong you revert back to your bad habit because it is how you feel comfortable. You know better because you have been shown the right way but it still doesn't matter.

Hmmm.

As collective units, the Vols held the edge in recruiting rankings with comparable experience in the following:

O Line
D Line
K
DB (especially after Vandy lost all 4 starters)
LB
RB

The biggest advantage Vandy had was obviously on the sidelines.

I get that and agree totally.

My question is how much time does it take to teach a player how to wrap up on a tackle.

How much time does it take to teach a DB to take a better pursuit angle.

How much time does it take to get it through to a freshman QB to throw the ball away instead of taking a sack.

We are one game from having a full season under Jones and the same mistakes on defense being made in game 1 are being made in game 11.

Dobbs has been the starter for a month now and puts up by far his worst game against his easiest opponent.

Special teams has become as much a joke under Jones as they were under Dooley and Fulmer over the course of the season.

It shouldn't take a full season to see enough marginal improvement on this team to at least enough to beat Vandy and hang with Missouri IMO.

And frankly, I won't be remotely surprised if they lose to KY. Then the excuses about KY being more talented will roll in.
