Arcade Question: Bejewelled Hints?

I can't get over 2,900 and can't seem to notice the play-based reasons why....

Not asking for pablum (spoon feeding), just hints to figure out how to get past my current block. I'm spending way too much time for a grown man trying to figure out the problem. I'm addicted to pattern-recognition & spacial relationship tests, but this one has me whining....

Will offer java-Tetris hints in exchange.
