Obama Clears the Way to Shut Down Oil Production in America's Richest Source of Domestic Energy, the Permian Basin of West Texas - Gate

Through the years the EPA & the ESA have been used to shut down vast areas of America that we as Americans need to survive in a modern world.

Areas that contain, rich farmland needed to grow food that both America and foreign countries need to feed billions of people. Forest areas so rich in timber that the price of building homes could be reduced dramatically if only we were allowed to harvest them.

Instead, year after year we spend billions fighting fires that reduce the timber to ashes. When it comes to energy, these government paid earth worshipers have used their power to keep us from drilling for oil, and stand in the way of building needed power plants all across America.

According to a recent Congressional report America has the largest oil, coal, and natural gas reserves in the world, if tapped we could be completely energy independent.

Truth is, America has enough natural energy reserves, timberland, sustainable farm land, freshwater lakes and underground reservoirs that we could reduce the cost of living for each and every American by more than 50%, if only the governments chains of restrictions were removed.

Everyone should read the whole thread linked above to see how we have arrived at this point.

.......these renegade environmentalist wackos are prepared to use the ESA to shut down oil and gas operations in portions of Southeast New Mexico and in West Texas, including the state's top two oil producing counties. All because of a tiny lizard they claim to be endangered,

Remember the 'delta smelt'?

Once they win their case then it's no longer news, not that it ever was news to begin with in the LSM and some try to villify me for linking blogs that cover what Lame Stream Media DOES NOT cover.

I remember these kinds of concerns dating back to the Ford administration. Not sure why you this is something uniquely Obama.

Yep... It's the stuff you hear on overnight AM radio no matter who the Prez is.

I actually like Noory because as kooky as his show is, he doesn't take it too seriously. Savage is basically the right wing version of Keith Olberman.

Energy in America: EPA Rules Force Shell to Abandon Oil Drilling Plans - FoxNews.com

Shell Oil Company has announced it must scrap efforts to drill for oil this summer in the Arctic Ocean off the northern coast of Alaska. The decision comes following a ruling by the EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board to withhold critical air permits. The move has angered some in Congress and triggered a flurry of legislation aimed at stripping the EPA of its oil drilling oversight.

Shell has spent five years and nearly $4 billion dollars on plans to explore for oil in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas. The leases alone cost $2.2 billion.

The village, which is 1 square mile, sits right along the shores of the Beaufort Sea, 70 miles away from the proposed off-shore drill site.

The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project. Environmental groups were thrilled by the ruling.

Savage is entertaining, even I will admit that. In recent months, he also seems to me to have dropped a lot of the name calling. He's smart and makes a good argument. No reason to diminish that by stooping to just labeling people. As I say, he has seemed to let go of that lately. Listen to him sometimes when I run.

Who is the guy that always starts yelling, almost to the point of screaming, towards the end of every segment. Now all that guy does is name-calling. His schtick of getting angrier and angrier is entertaining. But not much substance to him.

when I was driving up to DC a lot I used to catch his show early in the morning. Always liked sci-fi so I would write down some of the things they were discussing and read about them later. Some crazy people out there

HOW RIGHT YOU ARE!

Not only energy but food also.

The EPA is out of control these days.

EPA threatens Utah with air quality sanctions - BusinessWeek

Federal officials threatened Monday to block road
money and seize control of Utah's air quality
management plan because of an exemption for
excessive pollution from oil refineries and other
sources.

Utah officials have about 18 months to change
the rule to ensure polluters are cited for a violation
first, instead of the state having to investigate a
breakdown and then issue a violation, said Monica
Morales, the head of the air quality planning unit
for the Environmental Protection Agency's Region
8 office in Denver.

does anyone realize how absurd that Shell Oil deal is? Its by far the worst deal I have seen in a long time.

The US Govt puts out a report saying that up to 27 Billion barrels of crude are under the water in Alasksa. They then auction off the leases to drill on that potential find and Shell Oil buys the leases for over $2 Billion. The US govt, then denies them the right to drill on those leases because the air pollution from the Ice Breaker Ships may cause on a town 70 miles away. The leases will expire and Shell flushes $2 Billion down the toilet

The funny part about the whole situation is that the head of the EPA got full rides to undergrad and master programs that were fully paid for by... Shell Oil

Judge Grills Feds on Pulling Drilling Leases - CBS News

A federal judge on Wednesday questioned Interior Secretary
Ken Salazar's justification for canceling 77 drilling leases
sold by the Bush administration around national parks in Utah.

A U.S. Justice Department lawyer maintained Salazar had good
reason to cancel the leases - and that a lease isn't a lease
until Salazar decides to issue one.

Until the government decides to release a parcel for leasing,
even after an auction, it doesn't have to do it, Tyler Welti
argued.

Those arguments seemed to leave U.S. District Judge Dee Benson
less than satisfied during a two-hour hearing, the first in a
lawsuit brought by energy producers over Salazar's February
2009 decision to cancel much of the lease sale held in the
final month of President George W. Bush's administration.

Shell puts Arctic drilling plans on hold: Oil | Alaska news at adn.com

Shell anticipates using essentially the same exploration
plans in 2011 as the U.S. Minerals Management Service
approved for 2010, to drill two wells in the Beaufort Sea
and up to three wells in the Chukchi Sea. And Shell is
confident that its plans can meet new drilling safety
requirements.

Shell said after waiting two years for final approval
that they would wait another year, so now they
have cut their losses and moved on and who can
blame them.

They certainly will never get approval from the
Obama administration under any circumstances.

When we have to buy oil from Cuba, which will be sooner
rather than later under the Obama administration, no
doubt the democommiecritters will jump for joy.

Administration Foresaw 23,000 Lost Jobs from Drilling Ban - WSJ.com

Senior Obama administration officials concluded the
federal moratorium on deepwater oil and gas drilling
would cost roughly 23,000 jobs and freeze up to
$10.2 billion in oil-industry investment
, according
to previously undisclosed documents detailing their
internal debates.

Obama chose to keep this information secret and
it would remain so except for court proceedings.

BTW, the Obama administration stands in comtempt
of court.

Let's get it straight. America produces about 5% of the worlds oil. Pulling a few leases is going to makes next to no difference in the price or availability of gasoline in this country. We do not have a lot of oil here.

We do have a lot of coal. Sadly, coal is a dirty technology, both in production and consumption.

What we really have a lot of is natural gas. 700 TRILLION cubic feet. A lot. It's avaiable now, it's clean and it's cheap. I heard T Boone Pickins on POTUS the other day (a bipartisan political channel on Sirius XM. You should have it.) He said that NG would work out to about a dollar per gallon less than we now pay with more efficiency and less pollution.

If people would quit using the racist, misogynistic Michael Savage and others of his ilk as a serious source of information we might actually be able to make some progress.

Why are so many of you wedded to wasting petroleum for transportation? It is far too valuable as an ingredient of so many essential products like plastics, pharmaceuticals, fertilizer, on and on.

Do actual homework, don't take the word of these "carnival barkers" on the radio. We need your brain!!! Use it!!!!

Art Bell surprised me when he would not let some moron finish his point about the Apollo moon landings being fake. It appears that there are some conspiracies not even he can get on board with.

Here is just one examploe among hundreds, probably
thousands of idiotic federal government mandates using the EPA and other agencies to screw things up:

The Mouse That Never Was - Research: Endangered mouse never existed

Now that studies by the Denver Museum of Nature
and Science have shown that the Preeble's Mouse
does not exist, the question looms; what to do about
the builders, local governments and landowners who
have been forced to spend millions of dollars to protect
a rodent that has been deemed to be identical to the
common Bear Lodge meadow jumping mouse.

At the insistence of environmentalists, 31,000 acres
along streams in Colorado and Wyoming have been
set aside as critical habitat inflicting tremendous
costs on those wishing to use their land.

Some estimates indicate at least $100 million have
been poured down that rat hole.

It isn't just the oil fields that will suffer on
account of a lizard that meay not even be
in danger of extinction or may be headed
for extinction no matter what we do.

Speakers question science behind lizard concerns (+Video & FWS Docs) - Mywesttexas.com: Top Stories

The listing possibly could shut down oil and gas,
grazing and farming operations in Andrews,
Crane, Gaines, Ward and Winkler counties in West
Texas and Chaves, Eddy, Lea and Roosevelt
counties in New Mexico.

Does anyone realize how large those counties are?

Funny you should say 'carnival barkers' because the listed areas have been subject to grazing for 150 years and oil and gas operations for 50 years and there is still a viable population of lizards, many of the conclusions cited as justification are based on unreliable data collected over a short period of time under uncertain conditions, possibly by unqualified personnel.
