When you meet a Marine or Army soldier they sometimes will jab at each other. The Marine may say the Army is for boy scouts or vice versa. Are these jabs real or just troops having fun? Do the men or women on VN make jabs at other branches of service?

Also, don't ever forget the Army has never met a line of retreat they did not like.

When an Army captain asked him for the direction of the line of retreat,
Col Puller called his Tank Commander, gave them the Army position, and ordered:
"If they start to pull back from that line, even one foot, I want you to open fire on them."
Turning to the captain, he replied "Does that answer your question?
We're here to fight." At Koto-ri in Korea
- Chesty Puller at Koto-ri in Korea
(From "Marine: The Life of Chesty Puller" by Burke Davis)
"The mail service has been excellent out here, and in my opinion this is all that the
Air Force has accomplished during the war."
- Chesty Puller in a letter to his wife while in Korea

Monterey and I jab over a lame football rivalry.

I earnestly believe that service members respect one another, REMFs excluded.

I've always seen it as more of a mutual respect type thing. Just giving each other good natured ribbing.

That's what i always took from it.....I could be wrong.

some of the things I heard on Armed Forces Radio while I was in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm:

What's the navy word for marine? "precious"
Why are there marines on Navy ships? so the sailors have someone to dance with
What sound does s**t make when it hits a fan? "ma-reeeen!"

and so on. It's worth remembering that the AFRTS DJ at KKMC was an Air Force puke.

all i know is my dad joined the navy (he was told he would be drafted) because he didn't want to get shot at. practicality is a strong trait of the droski clan.

I have a good friend is in a navy seabee reservist and we get in to it all the time talking about Marines on ships especially during chow time.

Monty should appreciate that.

all armed forces rag each other. i was in the Navy and we used rag the other ships, we also ragged the submarine guys. we talked smack with marines, coast guard. it was mostly in fun, but some guys took it wrong. kinda like talking smack with bamers. they can't take a job sometimes.
