I have not heard one way or the other. Seems like the coaching staff would try to address our top need for next year.. and any year for that matter.

Jones is going to be a star. I have heard that Pearl is on him harder than anyone else at the moment.

If Goins is kicked off, I assume that we would have to find someone else for next year bc that would mean that our #1 and #2 PG's were gone (Maze finishes up eligibility).

Trae Golden and who else as a PG?

Jones may be one of the smartest basketball players I have ever seen play. He is a true floor general who can almost score at will when he wants to.

Good Quest.
Id say he offer and get on this guy he's the only other PG thats considering us right now for the class 2010

Daryl Traynham Point Guard 5-8 160 Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. H.S. (MD) PG #62

Or just simply go after someone else!

I was told that he needs to work on remaining focused both on and off the court.

He is looks like he has the same type of explosive qualities as Wall or Rose (not saying he as good as them, but in terms of how fast he is with the ball).

When it all comes down to it, I am just not sure that we call pull him from Memphis. Memphis has two good PG's in the upcoming class (Barton and Jackson). I think that Golden is more of a true 2 than 1, so I am guessing that we would like to have Ware and Jones in '11.

Golden is a ball handler with very good scoring ability. Tobais Harris specifically stated he was coming to Knoxville as a point forward. Meaning he will be looking to score and dish out to teammates. This makes the "true point guard" arguement redundant. The pressing and flex system almost demands a PG that can score and handle the ball, which is something UT has lacked since CJ.

Golden will end up being a perfect fit if he is as billed. At 6'4", Ware is also a combo guard and could be best utilized in the same backcourt as Golden, while also providing depth at the 1.

For next year, Bone will have to just not kill UT by providing 10-15 minutes of relief time.

IMO, a PG is not a necessity except for depth reasons. Meaning it is time to stop getting the plug-ins of the JUCO world (Maze, Goins, etc.) just to fill a scholarship.

I believe Trae Golden will play the point. He is considered a combo guard

I saw Trae Golden and his tream compete in the Arby's classic in Bristol this year and he is a way better fit at the 2 guard. He really didn't display the handles to be a point guard.

Chris Jones' team, Melrose, was in the tourney as well. He is very quick with great handles but lacks a consistant "J".

Jones' teammate Adonis Thomas, a 5* SF in 2011 class, disappointned. He has great size at 6'7" and swats a lot of shots with a good jumper. He is very talented. His senior year should be awesome. I hope we stay in the hunt for him.

Have no fear. Some kid will wash out at another school and Bruce will be there to welcome him in.
