Are we this good??

The Vols will probably start to slowly drop in the RPI, but not drastically, since the SEC schedule won't help their SOS.

Does anyone know how many spots we should move up this week in the polls? I know there were several teams ahead of us that got beat, I know that don't necessarily mean that we will move up but we should move up a couple of spots

Pearl said we're one injury away from not being able to win games. We have 0 depth.

I can't argue with that. Hopefully, they will stay healthy.

I'm thinking right around 15. The Vols' RPI is outta sight... more and more people are taking notice of our team.

WOW, I don't think we will be that high.
Indiana, wv, nc state, maryland, ohio state, michigan state, washington, texas and florida all lost this week. i think we will jump ucla this week and possibly boston college.. so lets see thats around 12th right??

Even though we beat both of them, I don't see them putting us above UF and TX. They're still getting a lot of love... ???

BTW, if we jumped all of those that lost, and no one jumped us, from 19-9 losers... and 20-9 losers... that would be 10 & 11 in the polls!!!

yeah i know, but thats why i didnt put us in front of florida and texas.... so 12th and 13th

I'd say around 15 also, we'll also be under the microscope a little more, I'd say some pollsters are probably waiting on Tennessee to crack, its very important that we keep winning, this week's game against Vandy will be huge, it's no time for a let down!

Because of our lack of depth and also because we have not been there in such a long time, I see us resting around 15th place in most polls. Don't get me wrong, I think thats fantastic :eek:k: . Players and coaches you are doing a great job, keep working hard, looking for an injury free season.

16th in the Coach's poll, 13th in the AP I believe, it's nice to be ranked especially in the top 15

To the original question - we can win but I think we are a fragile team. In addition to depth problems, we rely on the outside shot heavily. There will be an off night or two - like the OSU game.

I think we are a legit tourney team and the Sweet 16 is reasonable. A hot streak moves us to the Elite 8; an off-night dumps us in the first round to a hungry mid-major (like last year's UWM!).

Maybe, then again maybe not
UT has games left with teams:

14-6 (2 games) UK
12-5 (2 games) Vandy
12-8 Georgia
18-2 Florida
11-7 Alabama
13-6 Ole Miss
14-6 Arkansas
9-8 Auburn
-------------
103-48 .682

hehehehe But I thought the SEC was DOWN this year? Not as good as anyone else...

Honestly, it seems that most of the COUNTRY is down from the type of play people expect of the bigger programs... it is something we've been noticing in football recently called PARITY. This parity is for a different reason than football tho. In football, the good players are getting spread around due to scholly limitations. In BBall the best players are taking the fast track to the NBA and the good players are spread around. Point is proven when people are talking about normal powerhouses like those in the Commonwealth (UK & UofL) not having personell any better than anyone else...

The SEC isn't down. It's just very even from top to bottom.
Got to disagree with you Warrior. LSU is running away with the SEC and they lost to every decent nonconference team they played. Take out UT's win over Texas and Kentucky's win over West Virginia and a case can be made that the SEC hasn't won a single nonconference game of consequence.

Well, if that's the best defense you have for the SEC, it's rather obvious how poor the quality of play is this year. The only two marquee wins are against an injury riddled team and a team that lost to Marshall. The two division leaders have losses to OK State, a middle of the pack team in the Big 12, and Houston, who has a loss to South Alabama. Yeah, real banner year for the SEC.

Every conference has big wins and big losses. A conference's value can't be measured by highs or lows, but consistency. And LSU isn't running away with the conference. They are 1 game ahead of UT and a couple ahead of UF, UK, and UA I believe and have many a big SEC game left to play.

It seems to be as though the SEC is being squeezed a bit - the top isn't as high (Kentucky's definitely struggling, Florida turned out to be a bit of a paper tiger, and UT and LSU are still somewhat unproven quantities), but the bottom isn't as low (everybody's competitive, even the bottom-feeders like Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State can beat you if you're having an off night.) LSU's not going to go 16-0 in the conference, that's for sure. My prediction is that 12-4 will win both divisions.
