It seems to be as though the SEC is being squeezed a bit - the top isn't as high (Kentucky's definitely struggling, Florida turned out to be a bit of a paper tiger, and UT and LSU are still somewhat unproven quantities), but the bottom isn't as low (everybody's competitive, even the bottom-feeders like Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State can beat you if you're having an off night.) LSU's not going to go 16-0 in the conference, that's for sure. My prediction is that 12-4 will win both divisions.
If you're any good at all you have to play really poorly to lose to Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, or Mississippi State.

Every conference has big wins and big losses. A conference's value can't be measured by highs or lows, but consistency. And LSU isn't running away with the conference. They are 1 game ahead of UT and a couple ahead of UF, UK, and UA I believe and have many a big SEC game left to play.
Ok, show me any consistent excellence in the nonconference portion of the season. UCONN won more games of consequence in 3 days in Maui than the SEC did in all of November and December.

Okay, whats ur point? UConn is also the #1 team in America. thats an individual team. we are talking about conferences, not individual teams. like i said, a conferences values arent based on highs and lows, but consistency.

Ok, name me a team in the SEC that would have success in the Big East. There are 5 to 6 teams in the Big East that could win the SEC. Not a single SEC would finish third in the Big East. Tennessee, one of the few bright spots for the SEC, was handled easily by an Oklahoma State team that will probably finish 6th or worse in the Big 12. I don't have to really make this argument, this year's NCAA tournament will make it for me. Anyone care to wager that no SEC team will reach the Elite Eight?

lots can happen in the last 2 months of the season. im not saying a team will make it, but teams that arent supposed to do anything do things every year.

Sure, a fluke could happen. But that makes my point. Most years, the SEC has at least two teams that can reasonably think about a deep tournament run. This year it would require a major surprise for someone to go deeper than the round of 16.
