Are you kidding me?

I say we would still be 4-4. We just don't beat teams on the road . Our last road win against an opponent not named Memphis , Vandy or Kentucky was in 2007 and was against Miss St

Yeah, but we can't put UT's road woes on Butch Jones. His road losses are Florida, Oregon, and Bama. Not exactly easy stuff there.
I think he could win on the road against some of Mizzou's schedule.

I disagree with OP. If you have watched any Mizzou games you can see they have very good skill players. Dilussional Vols fans are in for a wake up call Saturday. Mizzou is still in the hunt for the SEC east and they will come out firing. I'm telling you, Mizzou had speed, talent and are well coached. I simply don't get why people are dismissing this. They put up points in a hurry. We saw the effect this has on our team against Oregon and Bama.

I think UT did a pretty good job when Georgia was up 17-3, and let's not dismiss the fact that they came back and won the game against South Carolina. They just have to transfer that energy on the road.

We "should" of beat FLA with Murphy in. And Georgia is a joke after we beat up their team, especially without Gurley. Try reading

And bear in mind the Florida team we lost to has since lost an additional 7 starters to go with the 3-4 they lost before the UT game.

Easley, I think, is the biggest loss as he's such a dominating player and many think could be the best DL in the nation.

Maybe, but the table was pretty well set to beat both anyway, especially Florida. They were giving it away that day. We were giving it away more, however.

This!

UGA got rather unhealthy as the game progressed. Many UGA injuries in Knoxville

Exactly. The UGA team that drove down the field in under 2 minutes to tie the game is pretty much the same team that lost to Mizzou and Vandy. OT should have never been needed.

probably right but I was told in this thread that actual results don't matter if the game is played on a different day with another team's schedule. Just playing the game

I'm confused. Too many 'what if scenarios' in this thread.:pardon:

we would be 7-1 even though we've already lost to 2 teams on their schedule? How does that make any sense?

Would UT beat UGA with the roster they had vs Mizzou? Yes.

Would UT beat UF in week 7 without starting Peterman... and maybe even week 4? More than likely.

Would UT's young team have benefited from playing Mizzou's OOC schedule both in terms of confidence and development? Almost certainly.

THIS UT roster with THIS coaching staff might even be undefeated had their schedule fallen out in front of them the way Mizzou's did.

Missouri should be ranked a strong #2... In the most boring states to drive through poll. Second only to New Mexico.

GA and Florida are not the same team as when we played them. (well, GA was the same team after the second half)

maybe not as smart as you(insert period here) but, for sure not as big of azzhole trying to be cool.

Actually, you'd be better off with a comma there, Ricky Bobby. Your second sentence doesn't have a subject noun, so it's not a complete, independent clause.

There's more, but I don't want to be a grammar nazi. :whistling:

speculate all you want but there's no way to know except for how the actual games played out. I still think we lose to UGA and UF right now. There's also no guarantee we beat Vandy so claiming undefeated with their schedule is pretty funny

but hey, dream threads seem to be popular around here

You really don't have to think too hard about it :hi:

oh don't worry, I didn't

If they had our sked, Mizzou would have losses to Oregon and Bama, in addition to USCe. And we could just as easily have a W against UF if we played the same Gator team that Mizzou did-- without the Peterman debacle. Mizzou might be better than us... or they might have reaped the rewards of more advantageous scheduling. That's why the games are played. I think they're beatable until Team #117 shows me otherwise.
