speculate all you want but there's no way to know except for how the actual games played out. I still think we lose to UGA and UF right now. There's also no guarantee we beat Vandy so claiming undefeated with their schedule is pretty funny

but hey, dream threads seem to be popular around here

oh don't worry, I didn't

Not a true Vol fan.

I don't think Missouri is as good as their record, but this place can be hilarious. We have many who constantly complain about us getting no respect, but the op is giving Missouri zero respect.

If we had their schedule and were 7-1, you'd flip your crap if people were saying about us what you're saying about Missouri, and of course you'd be complaining about no respect.

UGA got rather unhealthy as the game progressed. Many UGA injuries in Knoxville

Which is followed up with "WHO GOT DEM HURT?".

People act like Georgia was at full strength the whole and they found out everyone was hurt after the game. By about halfway through the 3rd, pretty much all their skills players on offense were out.

we would be 7-1 even though we've already lost to 2 teams on their schedule? How does that make any sense?

Not agreeing with OP entirely, but both teams are banged up. Uga was beat up most of our game and that was in Neyland, so I won't argue that.

UF on the other hand has lost some key defenders and also played Mizz in Colombia. If we had played the current team in Neyland I would like our odds.

But even if we still lose to them both, 6-2 is much better than 4-4.

The "only thing" separating our schedule from theirs is games against bammer and Oregon! Hee hee...the top two teams in the country.

But even then, I think WKU and SOLA are better than any of their OOC foes with the possible exception of IU, who beat PSU.

If we played UGA and UF when Mizzou did, I also think we would have beat both.

we did play them in the same condition Mizzou did.

We couldn't stop Florida with a backup qb.
We couldn't beat Georgia minus many of their playmakers.

So tell me again how it would suddenly be different...

Florida has had huge losses on D. Easley and they lost a starting LB, and I think 1-2 others.

I also think our offense is better while theirs has gone backwards.

You're right though, the game was played and we lost.

In the meantime, the reason to bring up Missouri's schedule is not to diss them but because with us playing a much tougher one, it gives us an edge.

Missouri should be ranked a strong #2... In the most boring states to drive through poll. Second only to New Mexico.

Agree with you on that... I drove from California to Knoxville, and driving through the state of Missouri was the worst leg of the trip for me. In fact, driving from Amarillo to the TN line is a very flat, boring drive.

The Peterman experiment cost UT the Florida game. Georgia was still healthy, for the most part, when UT played them, and UT still took them to overtime.

We played South Carolina when they played terribly. Florida was going to win regardless. Georgia was not healthy at all when either team player them.

Yeah, that's not bad at all. Try driving down I-75 from Atlanta! I am serious.... a few years ago I was driving through one of those I-75 towns in south Georgia and dialing the radio on Sunday morning looking for something to listen to, and a minister called wherever I was (I think Valdosta or somewhere nearby). the "crack capital of the world". I am not making this up!

Seriously anything south of Macon is a cesspool and Macon ain't so hot itself. I was sitting in a bar in Houston TX one time and the bartender told me that south Georgia was the "armpit of the country". I can't really disagree, actually.

This is a futile hypothetical argument... but UT would have had a very good chance of winning that game if they had not spotted UF the first half. If Jones had used the same strategy with them as with UGA... I think UT would have won.

Georgia was not healthy at all when either team player them.

UGA was much healther when they played UT than when they played MU. Statistically even with those additional injuries, UT had more yardage and allowed fewer yards than Mizzou.

Mizzou was +2 in TO's. UT was -1.

Mizzou had a field position advantage more so than UT.

Every year...its the same thing...if we played UF later in the season we'd beat them. Geez louise our schedule has been difficult for yrs not all of sudden when CBJ is our coach it got difficult.

Let's just take each game as they come, and just hope for progress and no injuries. Stop whining with a bunch of should coulda wouldas schedule wise. Geeezzz

I say we would still be 4-4. We just don't beat teams on the road . Our last road win against an opponent not named Memphis , Vandy or Kentucky was in 2007 and was against Miss St

What you are saying is that if you dont count the times we have won on the road, that we haven't won on the road.

I agree that UT has been bad in recent years, even at home, but what you said is cherry picking data enough that it sounds as silly as this:

If you dont count losing to the number 1 and 2 teams in the country, we are 4-2 right now.

It is amazing that we have fans that igmore losses against teams you have already played and lost to and state that if we played them again, we would win! What warped logic is that? You played them and they beat you. You can't undo that.

Being from south Ga but yet a Vols fan, I disagree. Perhaps one day we will be as ''cultured'' as you. On the other hand, I think I would rather not.

I'd say they would be 6-2 with losses to the #1 and #2 team in the country. Possibly 5-3 but not worse

Agreed. I think it's safe to say they would've lost handily to both bammer and Oregon, but no one else (aside from USCe, of course).

When the game started, yes. By middle of the 3rd quarter, absolutely not. By that time we were playing roughly the same team they did; they also lost their starting quarterback who is MUCH better than his replacement.

Perhaps the fact that the argument is comparing the health of teams when we played them, vs when Mizzu played them? Thus, the effective argument is, "If we had played them after they had been bitten by the injury bug (like Mizzu did), the game probably would have turned out differently."

The flip side of the coin would be:

"If Mizzu had played them while they were in the shape they were in when we played them, how would it have turned out?"

S. GA is a beautiful place with colorful people. However, I was from the more coastal region.
