2002 "We've had 19 starters miss at least one game, and that is too hard for anyone to overcome. But we don't use injnuries as excuses."

2005 "Injuries have hurt really cost us some games this year. We had a pretty respectable year going until they started piling up. But we don't use injuries as excuses."

-Coach Phil Fulmer.

Well...damn.

Okay, today is the first day of the rest of the season. I say if Anderson gets the call, he does a stellar job. It's time for that young man to take it to the Irish and silence all naysayers.

Go Vols!

The last I heard about Foster, his knee was sore but he expected to play against ND.

So much for that redshirt year Coker.

Do you think that they'll use up the redshirt? It's not like we are in the picture for anything big anyway. Let's just give it to Anderson with let holbert block. Maybe they can run over people. That woudl be ammusing.

Has Anderson run over anyone all year? I seem to recall that Alabama safety taking him on and forcing the fumble.

This scares me to death. Corey was a decent FB last year, but he's a converted defensive lineman. Would he really be better than Yancey or Coker?

Speaking of LaMarcus, anybody know Coker's health situation? If CPF starts that same "he darn sure doesn't know the pass blocking scheme dad gummit" I'm gonna flip. I heard that for 2 years about Riggs. We're more than half way through the season, and that should be enough time for the coaches to ensure that all the backs know the blocking schemes.

Wow: If Foster doesn't play, then the Vols will have lost the ONLY decent skill player on the team. Could be VERY ugly on Saturday unless the defense decides to let it all hang out one more time--but I worry that the defense may be losing a bit of its enthusiasm. The lack of offense, the losses and now the disarry could affect that unit.

So what Mr. arrogant, cocky Foster is hurt....

He aint good enough for the attitude he carries around with him. I could let it slide if he could hold onto the ball more often. He has shown me nothin, so I believe his absence makes no difference in the outcome of Saturday's game versus ND.

Or maybe he's just been humbled a bit now that he realized he's fumble prone and hurting the team...

So what?? So we have a tiny walk on backing him up. Otherwise we have to rush 2 fullbacks. I could care less if he has an attitude. The only things that I've read about him is that he's usually very quiet.

If he can get it done on the field, then he can have all the attitude he wants in my opinion. Minus the fumble in the endzone, Foster looked good against SC. Hope he can play against ND. WE NEED HIM. :focus:

"Good news," Fulmer said, "(Tailback) Arian Foster (knee) looks like he is going to be able to play. We’ve got a number of guys who have battled like heck to get themselves healthy.

Rob Smith will most likely play too.

yeah, against alabama (in the red zone), and against south carolina (at the goalline). both times costing us scores that could have won us both games. and we'd be 5-2 instead of 3-4 and still in the hunt for an SEC title.

:yahoo:

Foster got the green light to play. Lets hope he racks up 5-6+ yards per carry.

That's not right, Foster fumbled in the Bama game but Rob Smith recovered it. Riggs and Anderson turned it over against Bama.

well, i stand corrected. he is STILL fumble prone. to me, if you average almost 1 fumble per game, and you dont even take the majority of the snaps, you are fumble prone.
