That is Charles C.W. Cooke of the National Review who says that he was able to confirm Maggie Haberman's story. You can believe whatever you want, but National Review does have good sources from within the Republican Party. Why should we believe Maggie here? As a person who detests politicians in general and does not support political parties I have to admit that journalists and journalism in general are only slightly less slimey. If this story isn't true it wouldn't be the first, second or even third time they contrived or participated in perpetuating a false narrative or even flat out lied, which I just don't understand, Trump gave them plenty of factual things to report in a negative light.
I think Trump probably is repeating that stupid claim made by Sidney Powell, that he can be "reinstated" later this year as president. However, I think it has become evident that Trump will say a lot of ridiculous things in private, that he doesn't honestly believe. Remember that bizarre nuking hurricanes story? The test of whether or not Trump actually believes one of these crazy theories of his, is whether or not he brings it up at a rally or when talking to Fox News. For what it's worth, Trump recently held a rally in North Carolina... and he didn't mention this.
