Gonna be a very tough task. Our first true road game. So far we have struggled against the Pac-12. Gonna be the toughest challenge of the season so far. Of course, gotta focus on the Terps for now.
Currently watching Arizona play and you csn tell they have a solid team.
Going to be a fun match up next week!
Their center has that hook shot down!
I got the Vols winning in a classic double OT!
Difference between practicing free throws and shooting free throws in a game is that the players are often winded in a game. They need to practice their free throws the same way. They also need to have a routine so they focus on the routine rather than the situation. Ernie Grunfeld comes to mind. After watching the second half of today’s game against Maryland, I hope this is the practice agenda every day this week before we fly to AZ:
First hour: free throws. Any player who doesn’t make at least five in a row, runs laps.
Second hour: run laps.
Third hour +: practice for AZ.
Free time after practice: free throw practice.
Team goal for the week: 80 percent free throw percentage.
Since we won that game I’m not playing Santi or JJJ until conference play, give them the 2.5 weeks to try and get right, likely last extended break opportunity we will have for them. The timing of this game is terrible. Santi has shoulder issues, and probably shouldn’t have played against Maryland. JJJ can’t get through a full workout without getting fluid on his knee. We really don’t want one of these guys to drop out for the year right now. Bobby Knight used to say injuries are contagious. He meant that when you cover one injury by leaning on another player in minutes, you hurt them too. I’m sure Barnes has a plan, and it’s better than mine, but I hope we protect those two as much as we can this week, and let the holiday break heal them more. Shoulders and knees are fragile things.

I kind of agree. I think we’re a bit overrated by the computer models, but also underrated by our own fans who are just waiting for the other show to drop based on our offense without realizing how historically good our defense has been. Our offense better show up. I think we’re currently overrated, need Phillips to step up and Urois on the bench.

He was clutching his shoulder late in the game.If Santi and Jo can go, they need to play. The reason they haven't looked very good returning from injury is because they're barely playing or practicing for a week or more at a time. Santi seems fine given he just played 37 minutes last game. The 3 point shot was a little rusty, but that's to be expected. He had a fantastic defensive game though.
Yes, Barnes himself said Santi called the timeout because he hurt his shoulder. Shoulder injuries are concerning. He was clutching his shoulder late in the game.
As others have said, I'd prefer holding him and JJJ out until January. The Maryland and Kansas wins are quality OOC wins, even with a loss to 'Zona.
