Several other states are thinking of adopting the same law.

There isn't anything unconstitutional in the law, all of it is drawn directly from existing federal law.

The thing is since the federal government isn't enforcing the law then each state can take it upon themselves to enforce it.

As far as this law, it's not like it PREVENTS a business from having a translator or bilingual signage. In fact, that might be a good business policy there. But one should not be forced to.

I'm sure some people will still interpret it that way.

So, Arizona passed legislation clarifying a law already on the books that their judicial system took a year to figure out. Not trying to be silly, but that's the way it reads to me.

it's never a bad idea to have at least one hanging around to translate.

I also remember when AZ shot down bilingual education by a huge margin. They are tolerant but don't cater to others

My favorite part:

"If the immigrant cannot or will not adapt and prefers to live in an ethnic ghetto that is the immigrant's right. But imposing the alien culture onto this country, expecting the host culture--the US's--to adapt to the immigrant's culture by rule of law and suing to bring it about should be illegal. "

Nor does that prevent a business doing it all in Spanish either.

That is exactly the point, we also don't need to be forced into a lot of other things to appease others who don't care to assimilate into American society as it is.

At least some people can see what has and is happening in Europe and take some measures to prevent the same from happening in America.

Off Topic:

When is the "fence" due to be completed and\or is it still being erected\built?

land mines would be more effective as a deterrant...the fence idea is an ineffective waste of money.

To answer your question, i have no idea...I'm assuming it was gov't rhetoric that was never meant to actually be built.

Arizona has also ended the practice of teaching of 'ethnic studies' in it's high schools.

Here is the Liberal Media Machines response to the, as they call it, "threats" from Arizona.

Power Play Over Immigration Law - KNBC-TV- msnbc.com

Some intersting quotes from the article

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is in Washington D.C., meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, but his deputy chief of staff issued the following statement: "The mayor stands strongly behind the city council and he will not respond to threats from the state that has isolated itself from an America that values freedom, liberty and basic civil rights."

Its not surprising how out-of-touch the liberal left is. I am pretty sure that Arizona hasnt isolated themselves and that a lot of people view illegal immigration as a problem, regardless of what the left idiots want to believe.

This country is in some serious trouble with the frickin idiots running around.
