I think the he is feeling pressure from some about his UT buyout so he is ensuring his name is being thrown out there to try staving off a potential challenge from the UTAD. No real interest in taking the job just wants the perception he is trying. He will truly be on the market once saban tells him he isn't going to retain him.

Unless they offer him an insane buy-out, you know the kind the idiots at UT's AD gave him last time he was hired as a HC (extension), why would he go? He has gotten familiar with the buy-out gravy. It would be cheaper for us to pay ARKANSAS $2,000,000 to take him!!!!! We'd save a ton of money, not to mention, we should be able to chalk up a W each and every time we play the fools.

His biggest failure to me was player development and strength and conditioning. He got the players needed to win here, but they didn't get better or stronger and got hurt all the time. Once he fired Lawson it was the beginning of the end.

Coaches look a ton better when they have the dudes necessary to play that are ready to play. Pruitt is doing this and it is noticeable.

His biggest failure-he failed at coaching BIG things such as: PLAYER DEVELOPMENT (doesn't get any bigger), Strength and Conditioning, and don't forget team discipline (we needed the off field problems like a hole in the head). Once we hired boy butch that was the Beginning of the End. History is on my side here, facts are facts.

Ark is in the same position as any other struggling program especially the SEC. Do you go after a OC or DC, a coach from a lower school, or a coach with Power 5 experience but an up and down record. Just like Tenn, more bad options than good ones.
As you may know from my previous posts, I'm not near as negative about Jones as most on here. He had a 2 or 3 year run that was better than any in the previous 4 or 5 years and the past 3 years. Also many like to joke about Jones working for Saban, but I'm convinced Saban doesn't have anybody around that doesn't add to the program. Butch had great special teams while here, and now is an offensive consultant and their offense is extremely good. Might not be the worst pick Ark could make. At least you know what you are probably getting. And just like TENN trying to get to middle of the pack and gain on Fl and Ga, Ark has to get middle of the pack before they can compete with LSU, Ala, and Aub.
