Ive been checking their paper to see what they thought of Ramar Smith going to UT and now all of the sudden he is not the better fit. All along it has been reported by them that UA was going to get him and he would be the missing link needed to get them back to glory. NOw read this.
Detroit shooting guard Smith snubs Hogs, commits to Vols
Otis Kirk
FAYETTEVILLE Detroit Martin Luther Kings Ramar Smith orally committed to Tennessee on Monday, cutting Arkansas wish list for a shooting guard in half.
Smith, 6-2, 183 pounds, chose the Volunteers after an official visit there over the weekend. He also visited Arkansas and had committed to Connecticut earlier in the process only to withdraw that pledge and reopen his recruiting.
Arkansas will host Chicago Marshall shooting guard Patrick Beverley, 6-2, 175, this weekend. Beverley played in the Roundball Classic on Sunday in Chicago and had 13 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. Beverley has visited Michigan and Toledo.
It appears his decision will come down to Arkansas and Michigan with St. Johns also in the mix. Beverley almost signed with Toledo in November but opted to hold off, and now, it will pay off with scholarhps offers from much larger schools. Beverley attracted several offers following a senior season in which he averaged 32 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the Class AA third-place finisher.
Arkansas top need this spring is a shooter after signing three players in November. Beverley fits that role better than Smith, who is more of a slasher and scorer than pure shooter.
In November, the Razorbacks signed Mendenhall (Miss.) Genesis One forward Michael Washington, 6-10, 235, Arkansas-Fort Smith small forward Sonny Weems, 6-6, 200, and Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy guard Stefan Welsh, 6-2, 180.
