Aroldis Chapman is probably pitching soon

It will be interesting to see what the radar gun says. I'll buy that he hangs out around 100 mph, but 105 is hard to believe until I see it.

I can't get over that slider. If he can develop a decent change he is going to be damn near unhittable

Not to be a hater, but you have to wonder if his arm can hold up at those speeds.

His mechanics look pretty solid though. The arm action doesn't look like it would produce that much velocity.

There's quite a bit of difference throwing 100 on occasion and popping the mitt at 100-103 over half of your pitches. And the torque difference on your arm in throwing that 3-4mph more might surprise you.

Is there a study out there confirming this? Please link it. Thanks.

No I just made an educated guess from taking physics. Please show me the facts that just because he doesn't throw in whatever V or W motion that he won't have arm problems if he logs a lot of innings

It's not like he throws that hard as a starter. He was hitting 100-101 as as starter while sitting at 97 or so. Moving to the bullpen increased his velocity a lot.
