Has there been any discussion on this player in the Vol Nation? He is listed as a 5*. There was a "NFL type" combine here (Wichita) this week for top rated High School players. Lots of coaches were there including Urban Myers, Pete Caroll and Bob Stoops. Didn't see any body listed from the Vols. Supposedly has offers from over 30 D-1 schools, but has not committed. The kid is a beast at MLB.

An article said Fulmer was stopping by earlier in the week. Fulmer is gonna have to do a hell of a job if he wants to pull this guy, Brown has never heard of Fulmer till recently.

Brown is probably the top LB prospect right now. He plays very aggressively and is likely a top 20 player. Shayne Hale is another top LB that the Vols have targeted, he's a big guy who can do it all, very well in pass rushing and coverage.. he can lay a lick on you, too.

That guy must be living in a hole then. You'd figure most highschoolers would know Fulmer as the guy who led us to a 5-6 season in 2005. Then again, maybe its for the best he doesn't associate Fulmer with our 2005 season.

I don't know if Fulmer will invest too much time in that guy unless he really clicks with UT. He'd be really tough to get... 30 offers from a ton of top programs..

He didn't know who Greg Schiano was either. They're just coaches to him. Also, his brother is a top 2009 RB prospect and his uncle used to play for Nebraska.

To say we have no chance is very inaccurate.. we landed the #3 player in the nation this past year in Eric Berry, possibly the best defensive player overall in the 07 class.. Everyone knows that UT sends a TON of LB's to the NFL.. so why wouldnt a top LB wanna come to UT.. basically every year, a LB is drafted from UT.. some years, we have multiple LB's drafted..

As hv already stated, Berry had ties to the UT program. We were considered a major player in his recruitment from the beginning. On the other hand, with Brown, he hasn't shown any interest in Tennessee, just our coaches showing interest in him--Which doesn't translate well--In other words, that's where you're hearing we stand no chance. If he considers taking a trip down to UT, then we will stand a chance. Even then, I imagine it would be a long-shot to say the least.

I started this thread nearly two years ago. The consensus of Vol Nation then, was we had no chance for a top recruit in the nation unless the player had some family tie to UT. (such as Eric Berry) Times have changed with Kiff. Arthur might be a Vol today if we had the new staff back then.
