I haven't been reading up on the local guys as much as I should have but here's an older article on Tajh Boyd and Tyrel Wilson.

Peninsula's Class of '09 talented -- dailypress.com

Toward that end, Boyd is as informed and chatty a consumer as you're likely to find. He studies each school's offense and files their correspondence by conference; he tracks offseason coaching moves, even of assistants — he mentioned Jeff Mullen resigning as Wake Forest's quarterbacks coach to become offensive coordinator at West Virginia.

Wilson, too, will lean on his father for guidance. James Wilson was an outstanding defensive lineman at Hampton High, the University of Tennessee and with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers.

Tyrel prefers not to share which schools have caught his eye or offered him a grant. But he admitted that Virginia, Virginia Tech and Tennessee are in active pursuit.

There are a couple other big name recruits at their schools (like Dominik Davenport (DL) at Phoebus) but we're not on their list.

I'll try to find other articles and post them from my little spot on the map.

As many locals well know, Virginia Tech was James' first choice back in 1989. But mere days before he was to start orientation, the school's admissions office, citing a lack of math credentials, denied him.

Such history prompts an obvious question.

"My dad doesn't have a problem if I go there — if that's what I want," Wilson said. "I'm not going to hold that against them. I know the whole situation that happened."

Wilson took in many games at Virginia when his cousin, Marques Hagans, quarterbacked the Cavaliers. This season he intends on trekking to some Tennessee games.

Hint or red herring?

sounds kind of good for us
