One player has been around since Tennessee's last bowl practices.

Another signed with the Volunteers three years ago after playing just 10 miles from campus down Interstate 40.

A third volunteered to take a redshirt year after playing his first two seasons with the Vols.

For the better part of three years, Tennessee center Mack Crowder and guards Kyler Kerbyson and Marcus Jackson have followed the same players through drills in practice or watched them take nearly all of the snaps in game.

Good read.

Worried about those tackles but looks like center and guards are ready to go.

Thanks Volfan.

That article sugar coated our linemen situation. We lost all 5 starters and experience on the offensive line and we're *****ed.

This is a line of scrimmage league.

TFP articles are posted daily on the VN homepage under free VOLS news. Scroll down from the threads!

So is he not allowed to start a thread discussing it??

Anyway, I think that article was written in the most positive light possible. You could definitely spin it the other way. OL is the place on the field I am most concerned about.

There is no doubting that there are some hard workers on that line that are hungry to prove what they can do. Hope that plays out in a positive way come fall

Over-dramatic.

But I will agree that some people has swung the pendulum too far back in how rosy they are painting our OL situation to be. But it's not going to be as bad as you picture it either.

Lacking game experience for sure. But its not like these guys have suited up for the first time since grade school. Let's wait until we see the product on the field. Its like reading about the preseason top 25 before the season starts. Rarely does that pan out. I'm optimistic that these guys will be ready to go. And after game 2 they will feel a little more comfortable heading into Norman. Heads up. Chest out. Eyes focused. And whip DAT azz.

They said all the right things. Interior of the Line could be ok. It's the LT position that is a big worry unless the Juco signee improves in a hurry. Don't want to be relying on a Walk-on to start at that position.

How was that a sugercoat? The article didn't really say anything about expecting this line to be as good or better than the OL they replace. It jsimply discussed the road that 3 of them have traveled to this point in their careers and that there time is now. And that Mahoney has been pleasantly surprised with Kerbyson.

Best thing about the article was reading that Kerbyson ripped everyone on the sideline after a poor scrimmage by the OL. That's what they need, one of them holding everyone accountable for their performance.

This... OLP is nice and all, but it seems last years line was fine with just being a close-knit group that enjoyed each others company. We need angry linemen who will fight to be the best, and hold others around them accountable.

This. If you could've replace say... Richie Incognito's mind in all of our OL heads' last year. That is probably the best OL in the country.

liked this. You can tell CBJ has rubbed off on them. I believe Butch said something similar in his first team meeting about not working them hard enough.

There have been some bumps this spring. After solid performances in the first two scrimmages, Tennessee's offensive line looked overwhelmed at times last Saturday by a defensive front seven also replacing heavy graduation losses. It was poor enough that Crowder loudly and angrily lit into his line mates on the sideline after one especially poor sequence.

It was evidence of the fourth-year junior realizing his opportunity is here finally, and it's up to him and his teammates to ensure there's little drop-off from the old guard to the new cast.

"That's what we've been looking for for three years now," Kerbyson said. "We thought we were just as good as those guys. If you don't have that mindset, then you can't really go out there and perform like you want to. We come in and work hard and just try to be as good as we can be.

"We don't want to lose a game and regret and say, 'You know what, we didn't work hard enough. We didn't condition ourselves enough. We didn't study the playbook enough.' That's what we're trying to prevent, and we just go in and work every day."

I thought it said that it was Crowder that ripped everyone.
